Very Practical and well written
I am a practicing orthopedic surgeon with over 30 years of experience in sports medicine orthopedic injuries. I found this book to be very practical, thorough and helpful, particularly for those who are getting started in pickleball. In recent years my practice has been flooded with pickleball injuries and I often discuss ways for them to prevent injuries, warm-up techniques, exercises for strengthening, etc., and now, this book covers all of those topics and more. Clearly Dr. Stensrud, a board certified orthopedic physical therapist, is very knowledgeable and has treated many patients with problems related to this fast growing sport. The book is well organized, starting out with understanding pickleball injuries, moving on to pregame preparation, injury prevention during play, Injury prevention off the court and postgame recovery. Throughout the book there are many pictures and graphs which are very helpful. He also concludes the book with a 6 week pickleball exercise challenge that I will recommend for my patients. I personally will recommend this book to all my pickleball patients as required reading.

Pickleball - No pain, more fun
Dr Stensrud writes a thorough, easy to understand book on how to enjoy playing pickleball while minimizing the chance of injury. There are excellent illustrations to make sure there are no misunderstandings about how to complete the exercisesDr Stensrud not only plays the game himself but also sees patients who have suffered injuries while playing pickleball. I believe this makes him uniquely qualified to make recommendations to minimize injuries playing this fast growing sport.Having spent a considerable amount of time playing hand ball and racquetball, I think this book would be a helpful read for a player of any small-court sport sport that requires short, quick movements in a relatively small space. If we practice the recommendations laid out in this book, I believe we can enjoy the game of pickleball even more; knowing we are better prepared physically and mentally. Have fun!

Wish I had found this book sooner
This book is so valuable that I believe it should accompany every pickleball paddle sold and be a staple in every pickleball club. Two years ago, when I started playing pickleball, so did all my friends. Many of them have since dropped out due to injury. Last summer, I played too much pickleball without a proper strength program and had to take a break myself. This began my journey to find a program that builds strength specifically for pickleball. I was fortunate enough to begin working with the author of this book and overtime saw improvement in my strength and game by following the exercises outlined in the book.

Pain Free exercise!
Pain Free PickleballI would recommend Pain-Free Pickleball to anyone who is wanting to start any kind of exercise. The exercises Dr Stensrud has laid out in his book are easy to learn with well placed photos and explanations. He addresses the specifics of pickleball well including tips on body braces, grips and even the kinds and weights of the paddles. The deeper technical information, in a chapter called, “Biometrical Demands of Pickleball” are easy to understand and applicable to the game. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to prevent injuries for any new sport.
