Works better than I expected!
In my experience, many deodorants that are "natural" or closer to natural, are not as effective as those with the more standard chemicals. This one surprised me. Doesn't have aluminum, which I like, but has some forms of Magnesium for odor control. New concept to me, so I was happy to try it and see how it works. Here is my thoughts. Most importantly, it works pretty well! I have used it for about 2 weeks now, and only ONE day did I feel the need to re-apply more during the day. Generally speaking it seems to work well and I smelled no BO at all except that one day.Another thing I REALLY LIKE is that the scent of this deodorant is really mild ( I received the "Santal Sandlewood", whatever that means. ) It is pleasant, but mild, so there is the essence of "good" smell, but I don't reek of heavy fragrance. That is what I prefer anyway. I don't want to smell bad, but I also don't want to smell like I fell in a vat of perfume either! The application is different than I am used to. The Shea Butter or Beeswax is the reason for this I think. It "drags" a bit more than I am used to when applying it, but gong a little slower seems to work fine. It doesn't quite slide across the skin like Old Spice. I do what it says though and apply it and let it soak in for a bit before putting my shirt on.Overall I am happy with this Based deodorant, and will enjoy using the rest of it up.The price point at $18 seems rather steep to me, but most "natural" types are. I would want it to be around $12 or so. Less than that and think it would be a decent deal worth buying again. So yes, I recommend trying this if the price doesn't scare you away!(I only review items that I really, ACTUALLY use. NEVER just opening the box and looking at it. Hope it's helpful!)

Very vanilla, does on very dry
Always looking for natural deodorants - sweat should be allowed to happen! Had too many problems with regular anti-perspirants - clogging pores and causing major irritation under my arm.Packaging is elegant. You love looking at this thing and holding it in your hand. Upon initially opening the cap, my immediate thought on the scent was Birthday Cake. There is no hint of a citrusy bergamot as claimed. The stick itself looks like dried clay.I put this on and it is difficult to spread - it feels dry against the skin and you end up tugging it a bit to get the product under your arm. Luckily the scent is not overpowering on you once it is on. You are left with a subtle vanilla scent. I have stayed in the heat with this product and can say I was still "fresh." It is effective without having to re-apply.The reason for the 3 stars is the "dryness" and difficulty in applying the product, and the very sweet birthday cake scent.

Great Natural Deodorant, but the Application Could Be Smoother
I've been trying to make the switch to more natural body care products, and this deodorant from Based Bodyworks caught my eye with its ingredient list and the promise of all-day odor protection. I’ve been using the Bergamot Vanilla scent for a couple of weeks now, and overall, I’m impressed.First off, the scent is mellow and pleasant. It leans more on the vanilla side—some might even say it smells a bit like dessert—but it’s not overpowering once applied. It definitely keeps odor in check throughout the day, even when I’ve been active or out in warm weather. That’s a win in my book, especially for a product that’s aluminum-free.Where it stumbles a bit is in the application. The texture of the stick is quite dry, and you do have to press and drag more than you would with most mainstream brands. It's not painful or anything, just a little tuggy on the skin—especially if you're in a rush. Once it's on, though, it feels clean and doesn't leave a greasy or sticky residue.I also really appreciate the ingredient list—magnesium, shea butter, beeswax—all things I feel good about putting on my skin. And the fact that it's free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates makes it easier to justify the slightly higher price point. If the formula were a bit creamier or smoother to apply, this would probably be a perfect five. Still, it's a solid choice if you're looking for a natural deodorant that does its job without any harsh ingredients.

Much more expensive than the regular deodorant. Not sure if it's better
I've been using this for a few weeks now, switching back and forth between my regular white stick deodorants (Degree and/or Old Spice). This seems to work comparably, but it's hard to tell if I'm applying it adequately because the consistency is so different. It's like a hard wax, so I'm not always sure if it's gone on properly. One of the reasons that it's not easy to tell if I've put it on adequately is because it doesn't have a strong artificial smell like regular deodorant. This is a good thing. I like the natural sandalwood fragrance, and it's not overly strong smelling.Honestly, this is too expensive for daily use within my budget. But if you're looking for more premium natural deodorant, this is pretty good.
