A solid standard controller, love the cable
This controller will charge from USB C PD supply. The included cable (USB 2.0 A to C) is a really nice soft silicone. The vibrate isn't very strong, but it feels like a normal rumble motor. The joysticks make a slight tick noise when you first move them out of the dead zone. They have rubber caps and I find them easy to operate with a light touch after leaving the dead zone. The right joystick clicks louder, and has a different click feel. All the buttons feel like rubber membrane type except the 8-bit heart which has a tactile click. The grips are fairly straight down. It tends to make me bring my elbows tight against my body when I want a good grip. However, it doesn't quite feel like a controller for small hands. The bottom of the grip plastic is textured with little dots. It seems like a dirt magnet, but maybe it is a help to some players. There is an unnecessary seam on the back of the grips, it makes it look like the grip backs are two pieces, but they are one piece. Definitely a dirt trap, annoying that it is unnecessary.I had no problems pairing with the Switch or other bluetooth devices. This uses the switch abxy button layout which is a bit confusing on PC.I didn't find any major issues in play. One little thing, is that the R and L shoulder buttons take very little pressure to keep pressed down so you really have to let off for them to spring back. Probably good in some types of play, but could be bothersome in others.== Build ==I took it apart and the build seems pretty nice. Joysticks are standard analog pots so nothing special here, but they are on separate PCBs and well supported. The button areas all have pillar supports behind them. The motors have solid mounts all the way around, and foam to prevent any rattle.Four T6 screws hold the case together, along with 10 clips. Inside screws are all philips. The battery is 480mAh. The battery and motors use connectors so they're easy to detach. The microcontroller is a YiCHiP YC3121-L. It's a 32-bit RISC device with Bluetooth 5.0 (both EDR and BLE).

Spectacular Controller - Better than Nintendos own!
This is significantly better than Nintendo's own Pro controller. We don't usually use the Joyconns, but this is better than those too. Primarily, this controller has particularly great quality joysticks, and that's important to me. The buttons have good tactile feedback and don't ever stick. The bluetooth connection is strong and connects near instantaneously on either the Switch console itself, or a PC. The battery life is at least the 18 hours stated in the instructions. Usually more like 20+. And the charge time is minimal. Maybe a tenth of that. So 2 ish hours or so from zero to full power. Can be used while charging as well. Force feedback and motion control are also exceptional. One thing that surprised me, the underside of the handles is also covered in a grid like textured pattern that avoids slip in your grip. Tough to see in the pictures. Nice feel and heft to it.For the tech savvy, you can even update the firmware of these devices from 8bitdo themselves. You rarely get such long term support from a 3rd party device, but 8bitdo comes through. Seriously a fantastic company. Those who know use 8bitdo.If I have one complaint, it'd be that the small LED indicator for low battery starts flashing at too high a percentage remaining power. It's on the side facing away from the player, so not annoying. But the device will probably run at least 5 hours after the first time you see it blink. When the kids want to play, gone are the days of arguing to use the Nintendo branded controller. They'd rather play with this one instead. So the Nintendo Pro ends up player 2. I'm confident in recommending this controller to friends, family, and complete strangers. Definitely will buy again. Hope you enjoy.

Quality Beyond the Switch Pro Controller at Less than Half the Price
For $30, this controller is absolutely remarkable! While I understand that the official Switch pro controller has some specific features that these lack such as HD Rumble and NFC, I find the quality of these 8bitdo ones to be significantly better. I currently have 2 of these, with a third on the way. In all my tests the 8bitdo controllers have provided consistent and accurate inputs throughout. For people looking to use this for PC games, the digital triggers will make this incompatible or ill suited for quite a few of them. That said, if you're playing on the Switch, these are the triggers your console was designed to use. There are far too many third party Switch controllers using analog triggers. The Switch cannot read analog input values, so the extra effort of pressing those triggers down is wasted on it. The rumble that's present on the controllers, while not Nintendo's HD rumble, is plenty immersive and works well. Gyro is also a much appreciated feature to have at this price point. Wake up works quickly for me every time. Don't forget to give them a little shake, or it won't work. Looks shouldn't matter as much as any of the above, but it most certainly doesn't hurt that these controllers look fantastic in every color. I will update my review, if I run into any early wear issues, but at this time, I strongly recommend these for playing on the Switch.
