Not just for the exam
I've had security responsibilities in several positions over the years, but never focused strictly on security until now. For me this book fulfills two important roles. First is preparing for the CISSP exam, which is the intended goal of the authors. When combined with the practice tests book and Mike's weekly study plan emails I feel confident on passing the exam this month on my first attempt. The material coverage is both broad and deep so there shouldn't be any surprises on the exam.Which brings me to the second role of the book. This stays near to hand at my desk as a top rate reference book for the IS security space as a whole. Important details are easy to find thanks to the organization of the topics for ease of study. I can rapidly locate that formula for annualized loss expectancy or which law covers personal financial disclosure.I really like getting a 2-fer for my money and this book is money well spent.Update: Using this book as a reference along with Mike's CISSP Practice Tests, I successfully passed my CISSP exam in the new, adaptive format. I felt very prepared for the exam and completed it in 2 hours. I highly recommend Mike's tools for preparing. In fact, I'm using his CCSP books to prepare for that exam. The CISSP prep enabled me to score a perfect mark on the initial assessment test for CCSP and I have been consistently scoring in the 90% range on practice tests. Now I just have to find an open slot in the Prometrics center's schedule...

Passed my CISSP Exam the first time!
I highly endorse this system and recommend that you buy the combo study guide/test book set, access the online test site, and follow Mike's recommendations.Read the material, take the tests in the books, take the online tests and keep taking them. The amount of information covers many subjects, but if you follow Mike's recommendations you'll be ready. How long your preparation takes depends on your previous and current exposure to the subjects covered but you will get it if you stick to it.Again, get the books, take the time to prepare, test, test, test and you will be ready.Good luck!

Passed. Good study guide make sure you have the latest version
This book is a superset of the information presented in ISC2's own CISSP classes (which have their own study guide that's much more specific). If you have taken the class or use the official practice tests, this is an invaluable book to find out why some of the quirky answers to questions on the CISSP exam are "more correct" than others. The nice thing about the book is that the official answer is in the book and that saves you going through a lot of Wikipedia articles to figure out where the CISSP people are going. In any case, this was a great help in passing the exam. Just make sure you get the latest version. This was the latest version at the time of this review, but Amazon is full of out of date versions of this guide, and they revise the CISSP exam at least bi-annually.

Great for tracking down information on what you don't know.
Overall a great resource for the test. But it should not be the only item you use for study. I took the SANS online course first and then used this as a follow up, sort as an encyclopedia of information to look up items I continued to miss in the practice tests. I also used the companion practice test book as well (but the online version). This is a very LARGE book so not very practical to read cover to cover, but a great resource to track down additional information.

Great book and I passed!
This is hands down the best book for studying for the CAT CISSP exam! I sat for the exam October 13th, 2018 and felt absolutely confident in passing. Well, this actually scared me. Because being over confident can ruin the outcome of an exam. I studied for a solid 6 weeks for about 2-3 hours per night (give or take). When you pick up this book, it will intimidate you. DON'T BE INTIMIDATED. Break it into sections. I wrote down which chapters applied to each domain and put flash cards in each section of the book to make it not visually intimidating (weird mind trick I do). I read a chapter a night, take the practice test at the end, mark off my calendar. Some nights it was maybe 2 chapters at the max. Once completed, I did more practice tests out of the Sybex ISC2 Official Practice Test book. These are pretty hard... Anyways, the last week of the exam. I used the 11th Hour book to review all key terms, reiterate things in my head, etc etc. After that... I got a congrats on the exam! If I can do it, you can too!!! Good luck!

Really Really Good Resources for the exam and real life challenge
I was able to get through some hard time at work using these material and I got deep understanding of concepts with this book. I passed the CISSP exam using Mike’s official (ISC)2 study guide and practice test. I also used his high quality video training series at LinkedIn Learning. After 6 weeks of continuous studying and reading Mike’s study guide cover to cover and I was really really confident for this exam. This exam is about deep understanding of concept and management thinking oriented so this book will help you prepare for it. Thanks to Mike Chappel and his team!
