Would purchase again.

Definitely a useful tool in the war against gophers and works well as long as you find a hole that allows for the proper positioning. Sometimes it is difficult to find a tunnel that allows the trap to be set up correctly; however, if you can, the tool does work great. It has also trapped some ground squirrels successfully. While it is not my only go-to trapping method it does add some variety and has been successful in meeting my never-ending battle with gophers. It is beneficial in that the trap is easy to clear once it traps something. No mess and can be immediately re-used.

It works and saves you a lot of time and trouble.

This is the coolest, neatest, nifty most gadget I have ever seen. I have 10 acers in east central Oklahoma and the gopher population here in this area is unreal. You can drive past properties and see hundreds of gopher hills. I woke up one morning about 2 years ago and found about 50 gopher hills pop up over night. It was like they parachuted in from a plane and made an attack on my property over night. I started gassing them, poising them, watering them with a hose and even shooting some of them because they are stupid enough to pop their heads up during the day time. One even pop up and danced like the Cady Shack gopher did in the movie. Wish I would have had my phone to video. Yes, Shot is as he was dancing. I was loosing the battle and the war until I found this gadget. I have had my yard pretty much clear for a year now. When I see a new gopher hill pop up I just stick my long screw driver into the hill until I find the tunnel. Clean out the opening, stick this gadget down in and wait. Anywhere from couple hours to the next morning it pops up yellow and another gopher gone. I leave the hole open to see if another gopher is in there and if so, set it a second time and get that one to. My yard now looks like a yard again. Why didn't I think of this gadget. Someone is making a lot of $$$$.

Best Trap I've Ever Used

Works FANTASTIC!!! Literally find a active tunnel, make a hole big enough for the trap to fit into, push the trap to the bottom of the tunnel, lift up a bit and gently push the top down to set the trap. I used a couple landscape garden staples criss-cross at the base of the trap to hold upright as it didn't seem steady really. Not the traps fault, just a shallow tunnel. Actually if you read this gopher trap people, that would be a good addition to the trap to make it more steady. Next morning, dead mole. If you don't know how to find a active tunnel, poke a hole in the tunnel with your finger. Do that in any tunnel you see, even can poke a couple holes in the tunnel. Come out the next day and see which holes are filled in and that is your active tunnel, too easy! As hard as the mole was in the trap it was an instant termination too I guarantee so no pain for animal which I like to, hate to see things suffer.

Better for gophers than moles

I have about 6 of these and have been using them for three years. The advantage of these over traditional gopher traps (eg, the ones with jaws that you push onto the tunnel) is that you don’t have to dig a (fairly) large hole in your yard because the Gopher Hawks catch gophers no matter which way they are traveling in the tunnel so you only need one (with conventional traps you need two- one in each direction of the tunnel, since you don’t know which way they’re coming); Gopher Hawks are much faster to set and remove than conventional traps; you can visually see when GH have been triggered; easy to empty out so no messing with gophers bodies. I took off one star because for moles I feel the Wire Tex Gopher Eliminator is better because they work better on the shallower mole tunnels, whereas the Gopher Hawk tends to fall over in the shallow tunnels unless you brace it. Check out YouTube for tips on both the Gopher Hawk and Mole Eliminator.Tip: I spray paint the tops of my gopher Hawks pink or some other bright color so they are easier to spot than black plastic in the bushes. If the trap is really out of sight, I’ll put out a pink wire irrigation flag (garden section at Home Depot) or a pink plastic ribbon on front of the bush to remind me of where the trap is. In theory, you don’t need to leave them out more than a couple days if the tunnel is active, but life gets busy and then I forget where I put them
