This is a good vacuum
I've owned a lot of vacuums over the years. But, I've got three cats and a wife, and their hair and fur destroys vacuums. We have a corded dyson that has been repaired several times, a cordless dyson, a cordless shark, and a couple of others. Most are in a state of constant repair; replacing batteries or bearings that the cat fluff has broken into. The shark even had a guard to prevent cat hair getting to the bearings. Doesn't work. We're currently on the third motor base for it, 6 months in and it's starting to fail.Hoover cordless vacuums go for about 9 months.I figure that if this lasts less than a year I'll get a replacement on warranty. More than a year and I'm down only $60.The forums hate this vacuum - they cite the cord length (this is valid, but just change outlets every room, not the end of the world). They don't like the noise (could be quieter, but....it's cheap). They don't like the motor filters, thinking the motor will die. Well, as above, none of the above vacuums have lasted long enough for this to be a concern. The forum recommended cat vac is a Miele that costs $760. It would need to last 12 years for this to be worth it.I can't see that happening. Now, I ran through the house twice with this and emptied it 12 times over the course of 2 days. This is pretty effective. Looking at the design, it's simplistic and can be disassembled to clean the brush - that's more than many more expensive vacuums.I do have my doubts about it's longevity, but its simplicity helps here. This is a decent vacuum with a short cord.

For fifty bucks a good value, nice suction and well put together and lightweight.
Folks, I had two name brand vacuums before this Amazon Basic model. The first the switch wouldn't turn off and I had to pull the plug out of the wall to turn it off and it wasn't cleaning the rug well. The second I had a day and it smelled like burning plastic, so it got returned.I'm just an average guy and didnt have high expectations. They were greatly exceeded. I have an older carpet, and I was astonished how much stuff this vacuum cleaner picked up, and the carpet looked almost revigorated. It was also very easy to put together, and I really, really like it so far. It has great suction. In fairness, the hose seems short, but its non applicable for me because I really dont use it much.Which I had found this first before the other two duds. Very lightweight and decent looking, and I think a great value for $50 as my first impression using it.

Good product
Purchased this 5/8/25, was in the process of moving so just opened on 6/5/25. Ordered a new vacuum, but the box and vacuum seemed to be previously opened. The tape was coming off the box and the pieces to the vacuum were not in the bags. Instead the bags were stuffed inside the box, as if someone previously opened it and took it out the packaging. However, the machine didn't appear to be used, broken, or missing parts. So when you order just pay attention to how it's delivered. Nevertheless, the vacuum works well, it gets the job done so far. It kind of a louder vacuum and seems to work better on shorter 'haired' rugs/carpets, and it's lightweight. So far happy with the purchase.

Good value
Here's the TL;DR review:It's cheap. It works. Here's the longer review: We have a couple of robot vacuums that pretty much do...whatever it is they do. My wife has a ridiculously large furball of a mainecoon. Keeping up with his shedding takes effort. A LOT of effort. That's why we have the roombas running all the time. Problem is, they can't keep up...and they can ONLY vacuum the floor. But they keep up well enough to where as long as they run, we can get away with not vacuuming multiple times per day. Adding to this problem: our vacuum broke about two months ago. If Terminator ever comes true, the solution to the robot apocalypse is mainecoon cat shedding in a version of a drawn out war of attrition. The cats will win, every time. Our robots were losing the war. I got tired of reading vacuum reviews and getting stuck in analysis paralysis and just decided to order *something* as a stop gap until I finally found something I was confident enough in to spend some money to order. This was the cheapest one I saw that wasnt a "Shark" version, and generally Amazon Basics stuff is fine, so I ordered it.For what I spent, and for the amount of hair it picked up on the first pass? I'm absolutely, 100% over the moon happy with it.That said, downsides:It's feels pretty cheap. Kinda like a toy vacuum you would buy for a 5 year old or something, except it actually works (well). The hose is SHORT. Like really short. I probably let loose more than one obscenity about this fact when I was vacuuming the couch. Works well, just have to move the vacuum quite a bit...which is slightly annoying to do when you remove the handle from the vacuum to attach it to the hose. Design decision that is BOTH a feature AND a bug.The width of the vacuum is narrow. Depending on your use case this may not be a big deal, but if your house is large you will kinda feel like you are mowing a football field with the tiniest of tiny push mowers instead of an industrial deck mower. So, really happy with the purchase. Still looking for a more permanent solution, but I'll probably end up leaving this vacuum in a closet upstairs if for no other reason than to vacuum the stairs with it. It's really light, and REALLY has a lot of suction power.

Great for my small space!
I live in a small one-bedroom apartment. I had been using a stick vacuum since most of my apartment is vinyl floors. However, my bedroom is carpet and I have a large rug in my living room. I noticed my carpets not looking super clean and constantly picking up pieces of hair even after I vacuumed.I vacuumed with the stick vacuum this morning, and when this vacuum got delivered I decided to give it a go. Currently so embarrassed that my floors have been this dusty and dirty!!This is a great vacuum for my space!
