Bought it to use with home assistant
After a fair amount of work, I did get it to work with home assistant. The only problem I've had is it is not the most reliable device since sometimes it has to be reset. In addition, the audio output is low. It did work fine as a simple Bluetooth speaker system although the speakers are not the best. UPDATE - I've had a ESP Muse Luxe reprogrammed using the standard code for use as a text to speech device for two weeks to work with home assistant. My experience has been that the device just goes deaf. It seems to be online but does not play the voice sent to it. It will pop at the start of the message, but no further sounds are heard. I have upgraded my home assistant and reprogrammed the Muse with the latest software. Occasionally, I can get it working again by turning it on or off. But can always get it to work by reloading the software to the Muse. After reloading the software, it will work for an hour or two before going deaf again.

Started as useless garbage but got really really good
I just want to balance out the bad reviews. When I first got the unit it was terrible just like the other reviews said but didn't feel like writing a negative one as there were enough of those and I didn't want to ruin the only open source speaker I knew of.The latest firmware though is A LOT better. It used to no stay connected to WiFi and used to always forget my WiFi credentials. With the latest squeezlite-esp32, it pretty much works flawlessly even on terrible 2.4Ghz WiFi. I've only used with the Logitech Media Server and squeezelite-esp32 but I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well with esphome-audio. Give it a try!

Make sure to update the firmware
Great option for use with Logitech Media Server / Squeezebox. However, make sure you update the firmware to the latest version to get good results. Sound quality is okay, but not amazing. If you're using LMS, install the ESP32 plugin and turn the loudness setting up to 5-8. This makes it sounds a lot better at lower volumes.

Good and bad, but good if you have a quiet environment.
3 Stars because the volume is to low.Pros: Works wonderful.Quick flash : Esp Home web flashingEasy to integrate.Battery - last long in my use case. Automate it to sleep, you will figure it out.Cons:Volume way to LOoooW on Max- :) I ordered 4 pieces. Way too low to use in Living room area. I just automate the TV - Smart TV to pause video and announce on TV since it's louder, then continue playing media.-Automation check it's TV is power on if not then play on this speaker - good luck hearing this speaker.LED light is on the top- Useless as no one can see it. Accept you mount the speaker face down or back down( no access to charging)FixesIf you have choppy Audio, skipping automations, etc - you have a lot of devices ( smart-stuff on your network) add a new router on the same network to extend the bandwidth. I had to do that after I realize when TV was streaming a moving or YT. Speaker will crackle.Give HA - a better computer to process the data.

Awesome idea, wonky result
I REALLY wanted to like this, but there are a bunch of issues. Some of these are due to how inhernetly un-user-friendly Home Assistant itself is, but some are pretty clearly the fault of the speaker.Flashing new firmware was easy, so that's a win.Connecting the speaker to HA was easy, so that's a win.The audio quality (when it actually works) is not shabby. But for my use-case, as an always-on smart speaker for HA, this thing proved a pretty big failure. I can sometimes get a 4o model to respond through it, but I think the speaker's wifi keeps dropping in and out and it doesn't stay connected. It won't always pick up my voice. It frequently says it's playing audio (on my HA dashboard) when it actually isn't playing anything out loud. The speaker also makes loud crackling sounds randomly. It'd be really nice to have an HA-ready smart speaker... but HA itself is pretty "meh" compared to the stuff that the corproations are churning out, and this little speaker isn't an exception.I just really wish that open-source stuff would focus on strong UX. Plug in and play, guys. That's the only way to design.

Instant e-waste
The WiFi is very flaky and unreliable, making it almost impossible to set up regardless of which firmware you try to use. When it does connect you have about a 1 in 3 chance of getting a sudden ear drum-shattering burst of ~140dB static randomly. It's louder than a smoke detector, and when it decides to do that at 3am, you and all your neighbors will hear it. If you do manage to get it to play any music, the sound quality is on par with AM radio.I really wanted to like this thing but it's pretty much irredeemable in every way. The 3 I bought are going to e-waste after I harvest the 18650s out of them. I'm used to esp32 devices being temperamental and flaky, but in the end they usually work. A year later this thing still refuses to do anything useful.
