Doesn't play violin music which is weird
Update: broke in under 2 days. Strings came completely off.The good: It has the right number of strings and color, the toy bow is sturdy, my toddler likes it, and it's usually a sufficient distraction to keep his hands off his sister's (real) violin. The bad: buttons aren't labeled which is unhelpful when he wants a specific thing. There's no volume control. Lights are annoying and cannot be switched off.The just plain weird: they had infinite options of what to put on these recordings. The recordings to make a kid think they're playing music on a toy violin. They did not choose any violin recordings or even electronic/synth mockups that sound somewhat like a violin. Instead they included piano, a drum solo (???), a synth oboe, synth harpsichord, plain electronic tones and most baffling of all, a voice yelling and a baby laughing. I'm so confused.Of course by the time we figured this out the toddler is enamored of it and it will now live in our house for at least 3 years. Take heed and use this information as you see fit.

Good for toddlers
Ok for toddlers, does need 2 of AA Batterie’s. Lights up and different sounds each button. Cheaply made but we get what we pay for.

Great for the price
Looking to use these as a prop in the shell, not really expecting to play them, the size is a lot better than I thought it would be and the quality seems to be much better. They are not adult size, but you can get away with it in a costume hopefully they will work. Still haven’t got to use them yet.

Santa delivered this toy on Christmas and she was pretty excited about it
My daughter wanted two things for Christmas: a unicorn and a violin. Santa delivered this toy on Christmas and she was pretty excited about it. It isn't super well made though and the strings started to bend and break rather quickly. I feel like I got what I ordered for the price though and hey, I don't have to listen to a five year old play an actual violin!

Great toy for toddlers
I have an autistic 4-year-old with a global development delay. She's closer to two and a half. Cognitively. She absolutely loves music. So this is great for her. Her favorite instruments are the violin and cello. She also really likes the double bass. While we are in the van listening to her favorite classical music, she likes to play along. It's a great gift for your musically inclined toddler or child on the spectrum. The only bad thing isThe instruments are very fragile and break easily

a realistic toy
I purchased this for my granddaughter for her seventh birthday. She was thrilled with it. She has shown an interest in violins and thought I it would be cute to get her a toy that was somewhat realistic. This item fit the bill. The price was right and the functions are nice. She can pretend to play and get music from it. As other reviews have stated, it is loud. I suggested to my son and his wife to put some tape over the speaker to make it a little quieter but the volume hasn't bothered them yet.
