Fun to put together, fun to use afterwards
Super fun little shelter in place during COVID-19 project to complete in an evening or two. Plus, then you get a cool toy to play with. The effect sounds subtle, but cool. The parts weren’t hard to figure out, but the instructions could be better. I added a pic of the instructions. That’s it... that’s all you get. Study the pics here on amazon when in doubt.I hope you buy it and have a good time putting it together and then playing your guitar through it. I’d say it’s more than a beginners project, but not too bad. If you’re a beginner, but have a mentor to look over your shoulder from time to time with advice, you’ll be fine.

Read this if you are a first time pedal builder
All the parts were clearly marked and identified on the schematic provided. However, as a first timer to building a pedal, it would have been very helpful to include step by step, detailed instructions for assembly.I still haven’t been able to get this pedal working. It has power, and it appears all the parts are in the right places. I’m glad this project was on the low price scale. If I would have known that there were many parts that I would need to figure out where and how, I would spent the extra cash and picked up a Stew Mac kit with all the instructions.By all means, this pedal probably is fine and if you have experience with the process, this is a code effective, fun Sunday project. But for someone getting this kit as their first, be mindful it does not tell you how to assemble the pedal.

So Much Fun to Build This!
I had a ball building this pedal. I studied electronics in college and this project brought it all back. The instruction were easy to follow and all components were included. I did have a problem with the PCB. Several of the holes had solder in them and I could de-solder them. No problem - supplier sent me a new board! Nice people. I finished the project last night. It works as described - nice output will the volume and sustain tuned up about half way. I will definitely buy another kit from these folks! Just one caution - it is assumed that you understand a little about electronic components.

Decent kit
This is a good beginner - intermediate project. It was a little easier than the last 2 that I did (Klone and delay). It sounds decent and does the job. The instructions sent were blurry but Prolandtone/ ttone sent a file by email. These were a little blurred as well, which explains why the photo copy was pretty much unreadable. They should create a new document with better instructions. The instructions provided with these kits are basic. You will need to be able to read basic diagrams for assembling. If you don’t know how to solder, assemble parts on a pcb and install the switches in the case then you’ll need to watch some videos on YouTube or find another source. But there are good resources out there. Down one star because of the blurry instructions.

Not complaining, just explaining
I ordered this thinking it might be fun to build. After a few months, I reached out for a refund. I was contacted and was asked to please be patient because shipping in China was problematic due to covid ( and likely a little trade war). I said sure, no problem. A few months after that, I got a refund without asking. Still a few months went by and it arrived. Well I can say this, the instructions are basically a contents list as it skips which wires go where. If you struggle through that…the “instructions” are in black and white. I went online and found a video of someone building one

Optical Compressor. Built it in One Evening.
I was very happy to see the quality of components are very good. Everything is labeled, although it was hard for my 53 year old eyes to read some of the components.I did find it necessary to find another schematic to complete the project. All the info is available and the manufacturer is eager to help where needed. I did manage to damage the LED for the optical circuit using a 9 volt battery to test +/-. I happened to have another, so it didn’t keep me from moving on.I do recommend a project like this be done by someone who really understands what they’re doing. For those who are comfortable soldering and can fallow “paint by numbers” type projects, you can do 90% of the project pretty easily. For me, it was just the final steps to get it finished and together.I did find the pots don’t want to lay completely flat, so the knobs are in a slight angle. Also, I had to really work on the board and enclosure to get it all together and screws secured. It made it a little exciting when I plugged it in and it worked! My favorite setting is both knobs at 12 O’clock. It sounds as if it is a “everything just sounds a little better” pedal.Keeping in mind that this thing comes in it under 30 bucks, and it costs at least $60 for a decent used optical compressor pedal, I found this to be quite a good deal. It also helps that I love doing projects. All in all, that’s why it gets four stars.

Cant recommend to beginners solely on lack of clear instructions
This product is great, it does what its intended to do, BEWARE: This pedal comes with a single piece of blurry paper that you can barely make out that is intended as "instructions" if your new to making pedals maybe look somewhere else that can offer real step by step instructions to help you understand what's going on.
