WORKS LIKE A DREAM!!
OMG YALL… I have a turtle pond with large goldfish, join l, minnow and small ornamental catfish, a bit under 1000 gallons and I have been FIGHTING to get the algae under control… like… I just thought we were stuck with murky green water. We have a huge bog filter but it wasn’t cutting it. We added this and I kid you not this is my pond after 5 days… JUST BUY IT!!! The second picture shows hair murky the water was before. The fish were hard to see even at the top of the water. It was just GREEN. Now it’s clear, beautiful and I can finally see my minnow and catfish again! The algae is even coming off the turtles shells! I’m amazed. I did add some barley in the little pots that hang in the side near the water to help with clarity as well. But I just put those in yesterday so this is mostly the filter. No chemicals needed! I will update again if we run into any issues.

Don't Forget the Pump and Tubing!
Works great. Cleared the water in my small koi pond. Has the functionality of units costing much more. It was easy to install. PLEASE NOTE: to use this filter, you also need a pump (e.g., VIVOHOME 100W 1800GPH), hose (e.g., Sealproof 1" Dia. Corrugated Pond Tubing), and hose clamps. I noticed a reviewer below plugged in the unit and was surprised that nothing happened. The cord on the unit only powers the UV light (which is not to be plugged in unless water is running through the filter). My pond was built with a two-chambered underground box on the side that allowed water to enter the first chamber, go through a simple filter, and then be pumped to a small waterfall. I was able to put a new immersion pump in the first chamber, connect it to the filter with flexible tubing, and run more tubing to the top of the waterfall. The filter sits on the ground next to the pond, but there was enough tubing to hide the filter behind a bush. The instructions require a little interpretation, but I thought they were adequate. There is a small white disk included that is not directly referenced, but a statement "can close off one outlet when not in use" led me to realise it is used with one of the hose connectors to close off the third outlet. That outlet is used only when cleaning the filter.

UV light filter quickly cleared pond of bad algae bloom
I recently built a 600 gallon pond incorporating this filter. I did not activate the UV light in this filter as I was trying to establish the good bacteria before adding fish. I ran pond for about 3 weeks before adding fish. Everything seemed great until a rapid daily temperature increase which caused a huge algae bloom. It was bad enough that I could not see the bottom of my 40" deep pond and seemed to cause the death of a fish due to oxygen deprivation. I plugged in the UV light on this filter as soon as I saw the algae bloom and within 2-3 days the water was completely clear again. I've read reviews for other types of much more expensive UV filters and algae killers that denigrate this type of UV light/filter combo, but in my experience this thing worked wonders quickly and likely saved the rest of my fish.

Nice but poor instructions!
This seems to be an awesome filter. Deleting one star because the instructions are not easy to follow if you've never had a filter like this before. Still not sure what or where the small white colored piece of heavy plastic goes! Booklet does not say either. Haven't taken apart to clean it yet, we'll see! Any ideas? Maybe it seals the sewage outlet if a hose is not attached???

Don't buy.
The media could not be loaded. It was really good for about 5 months. I was using it as a pre-filer before the matala filter box. The leaking was mainly at the hose connections at first maybe 1 mont in and I fixed that with getting a better hose set. But I should have gone with the reviews. It leaks at the seals. Doesn't stop even after I replaced it. Started leaking at the light bulb base now. So I can't even use that now. It is a waste of money. Too late for me to return but hopefully this saves people some money. I really liked the design and really had hopes for it. Im sure if the company changes to better seals and maybe a much better holding clamp instead of this plastic one. Although, that isn't the problem. But I can see it breaking at any point.

Easy to install and all the extra sized plumbing connections are there for the connections.
We bought this filter because it has the untarvilot light to try to keep the algae under control plus clean up our Koi Pond. I've only had it running for a few days and have not noticed any improvement yet? I like the ease of cleaning and backflushing the filter and you get a extra ultraviolet light with it. Time will tell how good it works. All the different parts made it easy to install. I just have it set up temporally and will bury the plumbing at a later date.

It really cleans up the pond
Don't know how it will be long term but after 1 day you can actually see my fish. My pond was so cloudy and had so much algae you couldn't see anything in my pond. Wish i would of took a before picture but didnt think of it at the time. You dont have to take it apart to clean so that is real nice.

Leaks
I was excited to hook up this filter 1840 gph. I also have the 1800 gph pump from the same manufacturer. It looked like I had a pressure issue and it kept leaking water out the top UV housing. I took it apart multiple times and couldn’t resolve it. I couldn’t adjust the flow rate of the pump so I decided to change the tubing to three-quarter inch into the filter and one and a quarter pumping out of the filter hopefully to release enough pressure. That didn’t work either. It’s still leaked a small amount of water around the screws and the edges of the UV housing. I tried calling for support prior to initiating a return for the item. I sat on the phone for 20 minutes waiting in line only to be told. Try emailing and they disconnected me. That was the last straw. I proceeded with the return of the item. I did the return process and took it to a UPS store. The pump had delivered inthe original pump box and UPS now will not use that same box to return the item. I had to purchase another box for that box to go into at the tune of $27. So that was a double barrel middle finger. I ordered a new filter from another manufacturer and didn’t go through Amazon.
