The product is good, but users must understand that it is testing the surface of the article. So, it is very important to pile the surface in order to make sure you are testing the bulk. I did test a brass coated with 24K gold and before piling the surface it showed 24K. Another point. make sure to calibrate the Gemooro AuRACLE before testing.

I was really hoping this unit would work as advertised.. unfortunately... it didn't.Prior to purchasing the Auracle AGT3, we have tested our jewelry using the standard ACID test method. Because the acid can sometimes damage the jewelry finish, we thought we'd look for something less harmful to the piece of jewelry. So, we purchased the Auracle AGT3 hoping it would provide the needed results, especially when testing GOLD PLATED items.Unfortunately, the test results were all over the MAP!! Pieces would test gold, and then not gold, and then gold again!! We followed all the instructions as directed, calibrating every time we used the tester. The only way to get a solid test results was to use the small FILE on the piece of jewelry. FILING a nice piece of jewelry was not an OPTION!! Using the file was more damaging than taking the piece and rubbing it on an acid testing block!! I have dealt in jewelry for years... believe me... it was NOT operator error!!We returned the unit after a couple of weeks of use and dissatisfaction with the unit.So, the quest continues to find a good tester that doesn't cost a small fortune!!

I had to update my review, after using the Pro unit for a few days I found myself having to constantly calibrate it to maintain gold testing accuracy. I beleive the earlier version is far more accuate and needs less attention.
