This makes a great table accent lamp for a dining table, TV night, cocktail out on the balcony. It's rugged, comfortable, fits nicely in the hand, pleasant and fun to operate… and super cute if you're into heavy plastics and European minimalism style as an aesthetic. The pull chain and red logo tag to turn the lamp dimmer and on-off switch is a real pleasure to operate, it give the perfect click at the perfect time, you just want to keep turning it on and off like a little kid.The size is midway between a real table lamp and a mini lamp, and like most rechargeables the lighting is more for show, or maybe finding the food on your plate, than for anything serious like work or reading. It won't light up a room just so you know.I just bought one due to cost and avoiding clutter, but for a yard or room you might want two or three. I like it so much it's one of the few things I leave out on my countertop even when I put everything else in the cabinet.

We encountered this interesting lamp at an outdoor dining establishment in the Caribbean. The perfect solution to the problem of how to bring some light to a table out on a pier with a nice ocean breeze blowing! Candles won't work, extension cords are messy, unsightly, and a trip hazard, and you really don't want or need wiring or big lights- so the Fatboy Petit was just perfect! Our waiter brought it out to the table, tugged on the chain, and -voila-! As soon as we got home we ordered one for our own use on those evenings when you want to sit in a spot that's not near an electrical outlet or a light. We also got one for our daughter, who frequently entertains outdoors in SoCal and loves the idea of being able to create an interest center anywhere you want to without needing to fumble in the dark or run an extension cord. Heck... take it to the beach and enjoy the night sounds while still being able to spread brie on your crackers or pour some cabernet without spilling it!

I'm a pre med student with lots of reading to do, so I bought this for the nights I need to stay up working past my roommate's bed time. I use the second or third light settings when I need a light to read by. The portability is the main factor for me with this lamp, which helps make any space in your home a nightly work space. The only cons are the battery life (which isn't necessarily bad- 6 hours on highest setting with a full charge) and the price. The lamp is a little bit delicate for what you pay, but I've also taken it on outings and haven't experienced any breaks or malfunctions. Also very cute in person and will complement any decor you have going on, without adding to the wire clutter. Overall I would recommend this.

I knew I really wanted this lamp #1 because it’s cordless and #2 it has a sleek modern look but overall I had relatively low expectations and the price didn’t do it any favors. It’s been close to a month since I’ve received this lamp and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! It gives off the perfect amount of light and you’re even able to adjust the brightness. Totally worth the price, especially since Amazon is selling it at a cheaper price than the fatboy website.

I was looking forward to using this at an outdoor picnic; however, I will have to send it back and I am not happy about this. I was so excited to get it only to find it used and broken. I received this today and it’s broken to the point I Cannot even get the lamp to turn off. The switch is broken and clearly was sent to me as an old used product. It came dirty, stained, with dead bugs inside. Also, the screws on the bottom are rusted out like it has been sitting outside in the rain. I didn’t expect a used and broken product for $85!! Will return as soon as possible.

My wife and I were "introduced" to this type of lamp on a recent trip to France. It was used by our B&B hosts to light up dinner tables on their veranda. We intend to do the same when we are in Florida this winter (we eat dinner on our balcony every night and always like additional light at the table after darkness sets in). This lamp is perfect! Charges easily and holds the charge for several nights (we have been trying it out). And the three light settings (low, medium, high) are perfect for getting the correct light level at the correct time. We are very pleased.

Our boutique hotel had these on the patio in Chile. We ordered this lamp after our return. I have not used it outside yet, but love the size . I think it would be great in case the weather causes lost of electricity.Update: April 6, 2025Bought 2 more of these FatBoy lights. The 2025s are a lot different than the 2019 version. The 2025 lamps require you pull and hold the red tab to change level of lightening. I think this will cause easy breakage.The 2019 lamps , you pull once for level 1 lighting, pull again for 2nd level and pull again for 3rd level.I’m afraid that the new lamps requiring you pull and hold for light brightness will create and soon to be breakage.Trying to decide if I’m going to keep the two new lamps. The Edison the Petit Lamp arrived just today and we love it already. It has a simple European design, offers three light settings and is cute-charming-fun. We are looking at the optional shades (also on Amazon) and eager to agree on one of the many choices. We have it indoors as an accent piece but it illuminates well enough for outdoors and may take it on the next RV outing--way more interesting than our "standard" lanterns and portable lights.Update February 1, 2014: Loving the lamp, especially since we added a Fatboy Cooper Cappie Lamp Shade, also from Amazon, which is fun and softens the bright white light but still offers plenty of illumination for an accent lamp.
