Out with the old, in with the new! Still looks good.
So, I bought the older pair maybe close to 5 years ago. I live in the EUP of Michigan, so our winters can be pretty good. I generally will wear these for walking dogs, light snow trails, general work-related visits (but not heavy duty field visits, as I work with private landowners) etc. I was really hoping the quality would still be there - I mean, it's no name-brand high end boot but I didn't really want/need that. Here's the scoop:1. The toe part looks a bit narrower. Old ones seemed wider. Also changed the accent line, maybe to mimic other brands.2. Minor changes such as it now says "waterproof" on the calf and has an ankle logo. Just details I noticed. I will say I have gone out in semi-slush conditions, and have also kicked my bigger dog's "soccer ball" which can make the top arch/ankle area of the boot kinda wet. Never had a problem with anything seeping in. That being said, I haven't been out in rain or splashing in puddles, just the typical light snow melt. I have other boots/snowshoes for heavier snow conditions. Color still seems to be the same.3. Tread is different. Other one had straight lines and yep, you would slip a little in icy conditions if you weren't careful. Now it's a zig-zag and I'm interested to see if it grips any better. I still will use a different shoe + strap on cleats if I think I might fall and crack my skull while walking. But generally these boots held up well when walking dogs in streets 1.5-2 miles in neighborhood. I know this is the big difference people talk about with lower end boots vs like maybe a Sorel version.Faux fur on the old pair did get matted but my feet usually run hot anyway. They still had wear in them except for the lining on one boot ripped along seam finally (just this season) and I knew was matter of time before lining was completely ruined. But, for having them that many years and wearing about 5-6 months a year casually, not too shabby.Fits as expected, so I'm happy about that. I generally lace these loose and slip them on. Love 'em.

4.5 hour review of Northside Kathmandu snow boots
Took these boots out of the box 4.5 hours ago--figured it'd be a good idea to break them in before it was time to pull out the snow shovel. Impressions:1. These are waterproof out of the box. It's been raining for 3 days and I've taken the dogs out, checked the mail, gone out to the car several times, and my feet are dry.2. The sizing is just about right. They initially felt a little small, but the issue is mostly all the synthetic fluff inside the boot which will (sadly) flatten and become matted over time.3. Warm! My feet are ALWAYS cold. The only time I ever had "hot feet" was when I was between 6-9 months pregnant. My feet were cold when I shoved them into the boots, and within 30 minutes they were nice and toasty. They are actually a bit sweaty as I type this review.4. Craftsmanship: deduct a half star. If you are looking for perfect seams and even stitching all around, you will be disappointed. When I just glanced at the boots, they looked GREAT. Upon closer inspection, it became clear that whoever (or whatever--you never know these days) fabricated my boots was not plagued by OCD issues. Not a big deal since the imperfections are simply cosmetic and only apparent when actively scrutinized.5. Tread/sole: deduct another half star. I will be wearing these boots for sledding, shoveling snow, and accompanying my kids to all manner of wintertime entertainment. The tread on these boots is composed primarily of somewhat shallow horizontal grooves across the sole, which is quite thin. Another reviewer indicated that she could almost feel the ground beneath her feet while wearing these boots. That is an exaggeration, but I will say that I can feel the uneven tiles on my kitchen floor through the soles of these boots. On a plus note, the less substantial soles make the boots lighter than they appear. After almost 5 hours of continuous wear (outside, inside, up and down stairs), my leg muscles are not fatigued at all.I really needed something waterproof and warm for the winter, and these boots fit the bill. They are competitively priced and stylish. All in all, I'm really pleased with my purchase and have no problem recommending them to other Amazon.com shoppers.

Perfect: fashion, function, comfort, value
These boots are amazing -- the perfect blend of fashion, function, and comfort. I went on a shopping spree with Amazon's Free Shipping/Free Returns offer and these are the winner. You are not going to beat the value. These are well made, sturdy, great-looking boots. The stitching and joining of materials is a teeny bit sloppy but no one would ever notice. I'll take that and save my money instead of shelling out for the really high end boots. They are WARM! There is furry padding lining the entire boot. I tried others that had the fur but not the squishy memory foam-feeling thinsulate and these are so much better and comfier. Do NOT wear cotton socks with them if you're going for warmth. The moisture issue with cotton has a cooling effect.I tried boots with fabric ankle/calf sections and they were all terrible because of the difference in the clunky foot and the lighter flexible top. Those shifted and rubbed with every step because the foot is so much heavier than the top.The length is true to size. My feet are very narrow and just finding shoes that are wearable is about all I hope for. Even though the footbed is much wider than some of the others I tried on, the extra padding gives great support and they actually fit. But because it's thick padding that gives, I think it would be fine for wider feet, too. When I first put them on I thought I'd need a bigger size but after walking around in them for a few minutes I realized that I was just feeling all of that warm padding snuggling my toes and it's fine. I hope it doesn't compress much over time, but there's no way to tell that now.Love the dark brown coffee bean color. It's not too red. I tried a brown and gray coat with it which both looked nice, but I was surprised that the gray actually looks better with it because it ties in with the gray accents on the boots. Love them so much!

Good for price
These boots were a perfect fit, and very warm and comfy. For the price, they are fantastic quailty. However, like someone else wrote, the back of the right boot seems to have a bit of plastic or something sticking out slightly that is rubbing against my ankle. I'm not sure how to fix this or if it's a defect with the pair I got. I decided to keep them and deal with it but other than that they're great. Hopefully not all the pairs have the same problem.

I had to return due to sizing
as they were just too small. I'm a size 8 but would have required a 9, which was unavilable. I loved the look and feel though, and sure wished I could have kept them.Refund was quick.

Warm and toasty and big
I am very happy with these boots. They are bulkier overall than I thought, though. I imagined myself pulling these on with a cute little skirt, but they are not that kind of boot. Instead, they are the boots that I pull on over my barefeet at 6am, as I go outside in the dark in -15 Celsius to shovel the driveway.*****Update: After 5 winters of heavy use in Canadian winter, these boots are finally being retired. The rubber has cracked along the bend in the toe on both the top and the bottom of one foot. Tuck tape held them together for the last few days of snow, but it is time to say goodbye. Well worth what I paid for 5 years of awesome boots!

The material is good but if you get up close some of the ...
I expected it too fit large as I read many reviews. They are warm and cozy. The material is good but if you get up close some of the stitching seems poorly/ cheeply done. I just have to wait and see if they come undone or if this will affect the boots waterproofing. Still waiting for the first snowfall. They do look nice and so far appear to be worth the price. It's really just the untidy stitching/ unclean cut, where the rubber meets the fabric that I find poor but it is not visible unless you are inspecting the boot up close.

that they are awesome and I love them
These are a tad smaller fit than the black...not sure why. My mother has the black in same size as my red but hers are roomier. Other than, that they are awesome and I love them! The colour is much richer than in the picture. They're easy to walk in and super cozy. I would highly recommend.
