I had Firex alarms from 1996, and I chose some different ones like CO and smoke, and the lighted one, and the CO that talks.The red wire is if you have more than one in a series. Leave it on if it is the only one, remove the rubber \"cap\" if you're connecting it with others and use the new style plug that it comes with.
