It's just right for me!

Since Sichuan broad bean paste is not readily available around here, I cannot compare this one to other brands of similar items.However, I will say that it makes a huge difference in some of my Sichuan dishes, and I am exceedingly grateful that I was able to buy it online here!I like to experiment with other cuisines- mostly various Indian and Chinese ones at the moment- and sometimes it's hard to find the ingredients. I'm lucky that there's a good Indian store handy, but there's no convenient Asian market. Thank goodness for the Internet!

Wish this came in a jar. Very good. Essential for authentic Sichuan cooking.

It's not difficult to make mapo tofu at home, but it is hard to get the taste just right. This product duplicates that at home. It's got nice heat to it but not hot-hot or hot-hot-hot, esp when combined with tofu and some pork sausage and green onions and a little broth in the pan when cooking down. I would buy it again.

The product listing on the Amazon website listed only one ingredient, chili. There was also a picture of the ingredient list as shown on the product package with only natural food ingredients. When this item was received the actual ingredient list on the item itself was different and included a chemical preservative that I cannot eat. But the item is "non-returnable"?! This is completely wrong as it was the fault of Amazon, and none of the fault is because of me.

This product had a Manufactured Date of January 10, 2015 printed on it. The package also said that it had a shelf life of 18 months. I received this product on December 30, 2015. So this food product was almost a year old when I got it. I'll probably use this product before the end of it's shelf life and it's probably still good, but that's not the point. The point is that I was sent old stock and I don't appreciate it one bit, considering that one pays a premium price for something that is sold in an Asian market for a couple of dollars.This ingredient is absolutely essential in some Szechwuan recipes. Advice: You should only buy this product on-line if you have no other alternative.

this is the real deal.doesnt contain chili oil but if you want it extra spicy just add chili powder with some organic canola oil and youre all set.stuff is AWESOME
