Just had a house-warming party and I got so many compliments. I think the still pictures don't do it justice. It really looks awesome when the gears are moving. Yes, it requires two D batteries (not included), and the gears move via a quartz movement. It is not a winding wall clock. I am really in love with this new wall clock. It makes ZERO sounds and has been accurate in time since I got it last week. The main battery-powered gears in the center come already assembled, and they move together in a seamless quiet motion. Pretty calming and relaxing to just stare at.Other things to note is that the smaller left circle/gear is the Month gear has to be adjusted by hand because it is not connected to the main central clock rotors/gears. The large circle on the outside is the main clock gear, where you can the approximate time in quartiles. No it does not have a minute gear or second gear, but I think it is fine because I use it mainly for decoration and telling approximate time. The right smaller circle/gear is the day-of-the-month gear, and it is connected with the rest of the clock; meaning that you don't have to hand-adjust it. It moves slowly along with the timing of the main large circle/gear and has been accurate in telling the day-of-the-month.The product is a bit heavy due the metallic components of the already-assembled main rotors, so I would recommend getting a stronger wall hanger nail set-up. The time-telling gears are plastic.All in all, it is a product I highly recommend. I had a few friends from the party that wanted to buy the same thing because of its unique and modern look and I thought this was the cheapest option after comparing with department stores and other places online. I couldn't find anything similar with a modern and engineered look. The best part is really the symmetrical, smooth, quiet, moving gears!!! So beautiful how they all come together in displaying time.

The concept of this clock is the coolest part about it. I love the way it basically reverses the way a clock works.The reason I three star’d it is because:1) I had to return the clock twice due to damage. Simply bad packaging, flimsy boxing and parts were broken on arrival. Even after having been reboxed in an Amazon box. Also I had to keep the second return to use parts for the third clock. Basically, I ordered the clock 3 times and all 3 were broken.2) The clock “features” a month and date ring behind the regular time, but only the date works, not the month. And I don’t think it’s broken, it doesn’t have any gears to turn the month. This is super annoying. Why display a month on a clock if I have to change it every month? I may just leave those rings off. Would love to know if that’s not how it’s supposed to work. It would seem that they could gear this in such a way so that it just turns super slowly over the course of a year.And not a reason, but in case you’re wondering, all the timer rings are plastic. There are a bunch of gears that don’t do anything, just turn for effect which I think is cool. It’s kinda steam punk. The clocking mechanism is surprisingly heavy, runs on (2) D batteries.I’m keeping it because I do think it’s cool and if by some miraculous chance the month moves forward after running for 31 days I will update this post.
