Did not install on USB 3.0, worked on USB 2.0 port
On Windows 10, USB 3.0 native port, the device does not install properly. I plugged it in, and the system beeps at me like it is recognizing a new device to install (just keeps beeping at me). In the Windows Explorer, I can see the device for a second, and when I click on it, sometimes I even see the data on the CD, but it immediately disappears and says the drive is unavailable. Not a happy camper.Updated Jan. 30, 2019 - before going a different direction, I asked if I had any other option. I plugged the device in to a USB 2.0 port (has a white plastic insert, instead of the USB 3.0 ports have a blue plastic insert). It installed immediately and it has worked to install my tax software. I'm a happy camper.

It doesn't burn discs on my MacAir running High Sierra 10.13.6
I am starting to think it's an Apple conspiracy. Have been burning music discs for many years, but suddenly my new MacAir and non-Apple disc drives do not get along. Do they play movies? YES. Can they burn a disc? NO. It pretends it's burning the disc, then at the end, as you are getting the message saying it is "finishing," you get a message saying that Burning the Disc Failed. And then you have to throw out the disc, because part of the process marks it in some way and ruins it. Don't buy this disc drive if you want to burn discs from your Mac.

Great for movies, not so good for TV shows
Whenever I've used this for watching movies I've never had a problem, but recently I've been trying to watch a TV series with it and it keeps turning off or stalling making me unplug to get it started again

Slower reading speed than my old USB2.0
Immediatly recognized. Works well, low noise. I will however return it: They claim it would have a high speed, without providing data. Well, the reading speed is only half than with my old (USB2.0) CD drive. Thus only recommendable for watching DVDs on your computer. There are however faster and cheaper options for dealing with big data amounts.

External CD DVD Drive
I did experience an initial lag for the computer to recognize any of the CD/DVDs inserted into the drive, but for the price I paid, the performance is fine.

DOES NOT WORK
I finally tried to use this and it does not work - at all. It will open and close. It will spin, though it sounds like it is hitting something when it does (tried with 2 different disks). The computer recognizes the drive but not anything on the drive. The manual is a joke. There are no updates. It is past my date to return, so I guess I'm eating this one. DO NOT BUY!!
