Did not think I could find this
I have a very old canister light in my bathroom. The outside rim rusted out , when I would try to get it fixed, they would say they are not available any more. I started looking for the whole thing and found this bulb. It looks great and works fine!

Perfect Retrofit for Difficult Cannister Light!
I was searching for a neat, modern replacement cover or cover with built-in light for an old, obsolete cannister light. The diameter of the can light opening is 5 inches. The problem was the depth is only 4 1/2 inches and is nonadjustable. Finally, I found the Satco S9599 which is perfect! It looks much better than the original. It lights up my entire small bathroom. If you plan on adding a dimmer switch, make sure to go to Satco Lighting's website to find the compatible dimmer switches so that you do not void your warranty! I plan on installing Lutron's LECL-153PH Dimmer with CW-1 Plate in White which will most closely match the other model, Luton Dimmer SCL-153P with CW-1 Plate, which I currently have in other rooms.I highly recommend this product. The box contains two lights and is a great deal.Satco, please never stop making this much-needed item which people who live in old houses with old cannister lights will always need. Thank you!

So easy to update a 40 year old condo
I bought a couple to try them out. They look fabulous compared to the old discolored Lightolier fixtures installed 40 years ago. But those old cans do not have a removable trim and are very large. No matter what you read, these are not 8.25" in diameter. They are 7 3/8" in diameter The solution is to buy some inexpensive "goof rings." Solves the problem of the 7 7/8" opening and ring. "After" picture includes the goof ring.Lights are very bright, which is perfect in some locations but I will definitely have to install dimmer switches in other areas.

The definitive LED replacement module.
This product is a genius concept. It takes no more effort to install than a does a re-lamping. The flange covers the old trim, so no need to remove parts of the old fixture, the unit genuinely fits 5” recessed lights, and the painted metal edges are beveled to meet the ceiling cleanly. My only issues are that it is only 80 CRI (a competitor’s product is 90 CRI), and that because of the beveled edges, is difficult to grip it should you like to remove it. Still, It’s a terrific idea!

Extension is only one inch
I bought these to replace a Satco that had a two inch extension for a ceiling "can" in my house. The old Satco's went two inches but these only went an inch. The longer ones are not made anymore. I got a very good bulb extender, attached it, and all is well. These are very nice bulbs and work well. I had another brand and they went out in about a year or so. The Satco's are working fine.

UPDATED: There are adapters for older cans
I'm updating my review: I found out that there are socket extenders that are simple screw-ins that let me use these retrofits and they fit very nicely. Just don't like having to spend the extra money to get the extenders! These would have been perfect if only they were 1/8" longer. Fully extended, they just barely hit the treads of the socket, but they aren't long enough to connect. Really sad; they look good. Still can't find a quick retrofit for these darn old cans.
