BRAEBURN 5970 Universal Thermostat Guard with Keyed Lock

I purchased this guard for my retail store to cover the thermostat, which it does quite perfectly.I like the build quality and low profile design, however my only complaint would be with regardsto the lack of a hinge between the 2 main parts.Having no hinge is a simple annoyance and my ONLY reason for not rating this product 5 stars.This should be a quick one-handed action to unlock, swing the coveropen,..make your thermostat adjustments, swing down to close and lock, period.For the price paid, they should have designed-in a hinge, as well as let the potential buyer knowthat there's no hinge when reading the product description when deciding to purchase. I can see how a determined person with a flat blade screwdriver could easily separate the coverfrom the base given this one oversight/flaw in the product design. Seriously, would it have costany more to make this with a hinge? Okay, I've vented. I'll now step down from my podium and resume life!

I've been shopping online for a thermostat guard for my VIP1007 Talking thermostat for weeks and it wasn't easy to find one because of the odd shape of the thermostat. I didn't want the guard to be bulging out too much because some sellers don't state the dimensions, and some are too costly and yet flimsy. When I ran across this model I was impressed by the complete dimensional descriptions which I thought would really fit well my thermostats. So I gave it a shot and ordered one unit. The package arrived and I wasn't disappointed. Product is described well and indeed is a perfect fit. Installation was easy with the provided instruction sheet. The lock and the keys are quality made. The keys(2) won't dislodge from the lock in the open position so that's an added reminder that the cover is still unlocked. The case material looks durable unless it's hammered or pried off the wall. Overall, I'm quite satisfied and you'll never go wrong with Amazon's customer service. Highly recommended and would buy again. Hope this helps.

Not as advertised. I purchased this product because I needed the size on the advertisement.The thermostat cover is round on the sides at the bottom the actual length of the product is only four and a half inches yet the advertisement says five and a half.This is not an actual size but only the five and a half length at its deepest part.

I have a Lux thermostat that is of an older model. This cover fits just right! It isn't super big over the thermostat, while leaving enough space as to not smother it.Installation was easy. 4 screws go into the four corners of the cover. I used a power drill and was done installing within minutes. There is also a wall plate that you would probably use on some models that would go behind the thermostat. I didn't use mine and it wasn't a problem.The lock mechanism seems sturdy. No issues in opening or closing the cover. There are 2 tabs located at the top of the cover that sort of hinge on to the plastic that gets screwed onto the wall. I guess if someone used a small screwdriver they could pry the plastic loose but they would still have to break the entire cover from the lock.Overall, a good product that will keep unauthorized hands at bay from changing temps.

I'm a caregiver for my hubby who has early-onset dementia, and when he started turning the thermostat for the furnace up to 78 degrees IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER, I knew that I had to order a locking thermostat cover. It works beautifully, was easy to install and is quite attractive too. I hated having to resort to buying something like this, because these covers are usually used in households that have small children, but people with cognitive disorders ARE like small children eventually. Now to order the locking medicine cabinet...

I'm not sure what thermostats most other manufacturers are looking at, as most of the thermostat covers they make are too big for modern thermostats. Had a difficult time finding one that wasn't too small, or too big. Most of the ones I saw and tried were way too big and bulky for the average modern thermostat. This one provides the best fit with about an inch on top and one on the bottom. I have only had it for about a month, but it seems sturdy and well made. You can make a slight modification to install it over an existing thermostat or install it first and then install the thermostat in it, as I did. I highly recommend this one.

These work well and they are allways keyed alike. Sometimes the little tabs at the top of the frame break, but not often enough to be an issue. I've used others where the cover pops off, this one is solid.
