Poe The AI Story Bear

This bear is super cute! My granddaughter absolutely loves it! It tells wonderful stories and incorporates my granddaughter's name and it keeps her interested. It was easy to get started and the app walks you through everything. This was an awesome purchase and I would buy this for another child.

What a great idea. Bought all 3 of my Grands ages 5 to 9 one of these for Christmas and they all fell in love with it! Many story options keep them interested so they listen to stories every night.

This is such a great idea. We bought this for my daughter for Christmas, we thought she would absolutely love it. She opened it up and we got it all set-up, and nothing happened. The app wasn’t working so therefore the bear was unable to work as well. It was such a disappointment, the bear itself was super cute but without the app just another stuffed animal. We kept trying for two weeks to get the app work, my husband contacted customer service, no response. We ended up returning it, and lesson learned…never rely on an app for a toy.

POE will earn a place in toy history. Even Forbes magazine lamented finding anything AI available for Christmas! That makes Poe something of a rarity for 2024.Powered by Open A.I., the bears have expandable capabilities and purchasable modules that I wasn't aware of until I read the packaging. The POE AI STORY CREATOR app is a free download and the toy includes basic and premium cloud AI supported features.There's support for over 40 languages and is 100% safe content for children. It's suggested for ages 4+.It needs 4x AA batteries to work. They are not included.It's very tempting to simply put these away as an investment since these are the amongst the very first AI devices/toys to be available and could very well become a collector item. But I'm going to fulfill my original intent of buying a couple of these bears to be donated to the local Firefighter's Christmas toy drive. Being able to fire the imagination of a child is a priceless investment.

Grandma thought Poe was great! The parents liked Poe okay. In order to use your Poe you need a tablet or a smart phone, preferably. You need to set up an account then you and the child can select story ideas. Poe will either appear to be telling the story that you created or your smart device will. One of my daughter’s liked the idea for her 4 year old son. My other daughter did not. She has a 6 year old girl. The six year old and I played with Poe one time at my home. She has not played with it since. Each family was given a Poe for Christmas in 2024. It’s a toss up for me as far as buying. The quality seemed good. Value okay. Relatively easy to use if you have some knowledge of computing. Lip movement was working okay. Size of toy good. I think it is cute.

So I bought this because it is an AI toy, how cool, and I have a 6 year old who this could work for. It does not necessarily work straight out of the box and has some learning curve. It will probably need to have multiple firmware updates after bought, and the final one froze my device. After exiting device, I was able to continue.You can create so many combinations of stories, it would be hard to get tired. I think from this aspect it is a success. However, just look at the other customer reviews, it may or may not work how you think it will work.The two things I have not figured out:1) I cannot get the bear to tell me a story no matter if I download or whatever. I don't want my smart device telling me the story every time.2) The 75 token limit is not fully explained. The word unlimited is thrown around. But what happens if the kid has created 75 stories. Is that it? Do we have to purchase more tokens? Can we delete old stories we are tired off and fill with new stories?

I know other reviews have said it didn't connect but I had no issues connecting it to my phone. It's not really AI, there are so many different combinations of story elements to pick from, it connects to your Bluetooth so you can play music, or even find children stories on YouTube. The bear itself is adorable, not as soft as it looks but it's not a bad material by any means. My 6 month old absolutely loves it and my 9 year old loved picking things to add to the stories. I've only had it for a day so I don't know if my thoughts will change, but right now it's definitely one of my favorite things my children received for Christmas
