We have a bee colony on our property and are just learning how to keep them alive and not swarming. There are no directions in the box, but there are some on this posting and even more online of why and how to catch and protect the queen without harming her.Everything listed came in the small box. The two clips functioned. The queen bee marking bottle was easy to slide. All three pens worked. The other items help with the bee catching process or the hive.When we need to service the hive, we will definitely be marking the queen so she will be easier to find

Could be a fine kit except for two things: the pens are a chalky water-based ink that takes a long time to dry and then rubs right off (the pens say they are for whiteboards). The holder for marking the queens works fine for practice marking drones, but there is a stop inside the unit that keeps you from moving the foam padded plunger all the way up, so the queen has room to squirm around and is impossible to mark without getting ink everywhere.

This kit contains everything you need to safely catch and mark your queen except experience, skill, and confidence. I'm working on those. Everything in the kit works as it should and everything that opens and closes or moves does so easily. I've read how to do this in my two beekeeping books and plan to watch some YouTube videos before I actually try it. I think the clips for catching the queen and the bottle for marking her are ingenious. I recommend this product.
