The Last Days of Frankie the Fly / West New York (Double Film DVD Pack)

If you like to see Dennis Hopper playing himself as usual, you cannot go far wrong with this comparatively unknown B movie.With a bonus of a very sexy performance by Daryl Hannah, this tale of small-time hoodlums is actually better that it looks. A cast including a somewhat hysterical Keifer Sutherland and Michael Madsen, reprising his role in 'Reservoir Dogs', as a cruel gangster, lifts this above the average. As I got it at a stupidly low price from Marketplace, I am not complaining!Recent news from the USA shows we may not have Dennis Hopper with us for much longer. Get it while you can.

I'm not even going to try and explain the plot as this film is poorly written, acted,directed and lit, it is constantly murky and miserable and that fits everything else about this trash.

This is not the item I ordered, I ordered a Stephen King box set, I do not know why I am being asked to reveiw this item as I did'nt order it

It arrived propmtly.It was in good condition, so there were no real problems and therefore I was satisfied and will use this site again.

This film deserves to be cheap and on Region Zero because it truly is a bland film. The dialogue lacks impact, there is no real action and the story starts to waver half way through the film.Dennis Hopper (one of the best, most energetic actors of his generation) gives a strong performance, but is let down by a weak script and dreadful miscasting (Dennis Hopper as a sensitive gangster - I think someone must have confused him with Tom Hanks when casting for the film). Michael Madsen was ideally cast as the intimidating mob boss, but had difficulty acting beyond the weak story/script.To be fair I wasn't won over by kiefer Sutherland's performance (I normally find his acting performances very intense), but again this wasn't helped by the story, as is the case for Daryl Hannah's performance.I would only suggest purchasing this film if you are a dedicated fan of the listed actors, otherwise I advise overlooking it, as it is far from being a good Mob movie and the plot is just terrible.I give the film 3 stars because regardless of the weak story/script the actors put in their best efforts to make a good film.
