Arrived quickly and came in wonderful condition! This book is the perfect translation for anyone interested in ancient Chinese Qing dynasty fiction. The Romance of Flowers in the Mirror or The Marriage of Flowers in the Mirror is a wonderful fantasy adventure written by Li Ruzhen. While it was written during the Qing dynasty, the novel is set during the Tang dynasty under the reign of Wu Zetian. (China's only female empress in title and power)

stories and more stories, fairy tales, actually. Will read it again and again

This is an interesting insight into Imperial China from a merchant/scholar perspective and seems to be very well translated.The footnotes at the end are also interesting but the storyline wanders and it can be hard to follow the many characters. It is as if it was written in a weekly magazine and has aspects of Gulliver's Travels and Don Quixote amongst other things. It would be of interest to students of comparative literature and sociology.
