Does not work outside UK
I had ordered this after looking into the product and reading reviews on a Danish website. I do some drawing as a hobby and wanted a light-board to help when I clean up my working drawings. I found the same model much cheaper on amazon, so I ordered it, only thinking that the difference would be the plug (and I have an adapter already - no problems there). I unfortunately did not read the reviews here on Amazon - I wish I had! There was no part of the product-description here on Amazon that stated that it could not function outside UK -- so imagine my surprise when it came and had a big orange label on the side that stated that this model is only for use in the UK! I am really angry now! I have never had this problem with a UK product before - I only needed an adapter for the plug, that is it.Now I have to go through the bother returning it, which is very annoying and time consuming (I REALLY hope I do not have to pay for returning it). Also, the light that came with the product was broken on arrival. All in all -- BAD service. Only buy it if you live in the UK.

It's a plastic box with a light inside!
I wanted to back-light a drawing project so needed a light box. I searched on the Internet and found how to make one myself and then read reviews on Amazon and other places for bought ones.Artograph receive generally good reviews wherever you read, so not being experienced in this area, I believed what I had read but went for the larger surface area, although more expensive and more than I wanted to pay. I am pleased that I did.It is light, but made out of sturdy plastic. I don't know about it being classed as a toy, I certainly wouldn't like to put it through some rigorous 'child-friendly testing', but it does the job. I am now planning a second project that I would not have attempted before buying the Light Tracer II.I have not given it a top rating because I am unable to compare it with cheaper models, so cannot comment on its value for money. Only time will tell if it was worth the investment.

Clarification needed
The item description claims it can be used for 220-240V, and therefor can be used in the EU. But the packaging has an orange sticker that claims the item is only to be used in the UK (240V) and specifically states the box should not be operated in Continental Europe or other places where the voltage is less than 230V.What is the truth?I really hope the sticker is wrong as belatedly I read a review here with the same complaint. That review was written 4 months ago so there has been plenty of time to rectify the information either on amazon or the packaging.

Amazon has made improvements on the packaging..!
Artograph Light Tracer II 12x18 Light Box Let me start by saying this product is excellent, it radiates bright light that will go through most types of paper, exactly what I wanted! After reading reviews of customers complaining about the absence of delivery packaging for this product I was slightly hesitant to purchase it, however I decided to take the chance. The Light Tracer 2 arrived in its original packaging; this was then placed in a larger box filled with screwed-up sheets of heavyweight paper which is used to protect the product and packaging form getting damaged.I was both impressed and relieved to see that the item and original box came in perfect condition considering the negative comments it received. Well done Amazon, it seems like they've made improvements on the packaging and have taken the negative reviews into consideration.

Overpriced
I bought this to trace off work and floor plans for studies. It wasn't packaged in anything other than the flimsy box it came in which was battered. It makes a buzzing sound when it's on too, which you switch off to after a while. The light is even and powerful enough to go through heavy paper. I shopped around and couldn't find anything cheaper but I do think it's expensive for what you get, without any packaging at that!

Love it!!
I really like this tracer. I use it often to trace tattoo designs and pictures. The light is very bright and I have no problem seeing the image underneath the top layer of paper. It also has places to put pens and pencils and rubbers ect. I sometimes just use it as a surface to rest on to draw.

Really good.
I am sure there are more expensive models out there, but I think it was good value for money. Made well for what was paid for it and works well. Does the job & is plenty bright enough for tracing most stuff. Does get warm when used for long periods but not excessively so.

Disappointed
Had this lightbox less than a year and did not use it that much. Using it yesterday i noticed a burning smell. The transformer had burnt out. Now i cant use it at all. Too expensive if so poorly made. Not pleased hence the one star.
