Falconry and Hawking

love this book.
I was a complete novice when it come to falconry.I bought this book to give me a better idea and insight in to this ancient skill. This book is not only very detailed but has many sketches and photos to assist your understanding. It is obvious that it has been reprinted, but more modern techniques have been added as each print had been done.I'm very happy with this book, and no longer feel like a complete novice when speaking to time served falconers. But please don't think that after reading one book that you know enough to keep and fly a bird of prey, it's just a very good start in to the world of falconry.

Very good Book full on info
The book arrived on time and in very good condition, the book is full of information and i am finding it very useful indeed reading this book dose give you more of an incite into falconry and Hawking but i do still thing people should go on a course to learn more as it is a very hands on sport and for me at least a book can only show and tell you so much.

A great book that covers every aspect of Falconry
A must have for every falconer. Phillip Glasier was one of the most influential British falconers of all time & his experience is invaluable to the novice & expert alike. This book covers all birds your likely to come across in falconry, how to make a set up for your bird & train it for hunting. Very comprehensive but unfortunately doesn't go into enough detail for those wishing to really understand training techniques.

INTERESTED IN FALCONRY?
A very good introduction to anyone who is considering taking up falconry. Some of the information is a bit dated but other sections such as health and disease have been updated as this is the third revision.

Excellent book
After searching for this book at many brick and mortar retailers, without success, I stumbled upon it on amazon, at half the price advertised by the local bookstore.I bought it almost instantly, and found that it met or exceeded my expectations in every way.The level of detail the author goes into is amazing, with both color and black and white photographs illustrating the birds themselves, lure swinging techniques, feeding habits and medical conditions. It quickly becomes clear the love for both the birds and the sport that Phillip Glasier puts in to this book, and I can easily reccomend it as a must read for both beginning and seasoned falconers alike.

Updated classic authority on falconry
Masterly written in an easy to understand for non-experts and experts. The flow of writing covering topics to topics is able to facilitate a newbie's learning about the world and art of falconry in a natural way. The salient points are revealed free of jargons and complicated explanations as author don't beat around the bush. Topics dealt with are also quite wide, from understanding of the birds' needs to recommendations of making and building one's own aviary and falconry equipment, with diagrams to help and tips from the author's personal set up and preference for doing things the way that are best based on his extensive years of experience. Before training the birds, the basic tip on choice of which kind of raptor is also important to match the falconer's temperament and capability, and this provides an interesting information on the birds' habit and flying capabilities. Also where ever it differs, author gives comparisons with the sport in the USA, which contrast with England in terms of vast expanse of land that suit certain kinds of falcons or hawks, such as the larger ones. Book is in great clean condition and arrived well.
