An Absolutely belting little piece of kit! I highly reccomend it.
I bought one of these to transfer some old cassette tapes of the wifes son and his Grandad to mp3 and also a much treasured 35 second clip of my Dad and Brother. Worked an absolute treat!I actually got the very same thing (the ezcap as featured but, as another reviewer said they are available under many guises) but I got mine for £11 from a well know online action site. The unit itself plugged into a usb on my Win10 laptop. Drivers found and installed no problem.Audacity software comes on a mini disc but can easily be downloaded for free off the interweb. The instructions are clearly designed around XP/Win7/8 as I had to root about in the Win 10 folders to find the right settings (There was NOTHING WRONG with pre Win10 OS! Microsoft just made a great thng really difficult to use!}Anyway it works great with one minor hiccup (my fault) as prev iously reviewd, the initial sound quality was pants! Way too much background hiss ing and crackling came through. However, when I remembered that it can be used as a walkman and therfore has it's own volume control, I increased the volume on the unit and correspondingly reduced the input volume on the Audacity software and voila! perferctly good sound quality.I used the earphones and skipped through the tapes in the old fashioned way play a bit, stop, restart etc (you have to be recording in Audactiy to hear it on passthrough)OK, as a walkman it leaves a lot to be desired but if you want a walkman I suggest you go back to the '80s!It is somewhat plasticky and feels cheap and if roughly handled I don't think it'd last too long but, for the price and the joy of hearing old familiar voices it's well worth it.

You'd be better off finding an old Walkman
Bought one of these for transferring some old cassettes to digital format via a PC after my old Walkman gave out (I'm guessing that the drive belt had perished). This particular model appears to be available under a number of different (and unusual) brand names, but are essentially the same product. However, whilst it was easy to connect up to the PC via USB cable, and is handy in that it takes power from the USB connection (so no batteries required), unfortunately the sound quality leave an awful lot to be desired. Not only that, the tapes actually play too fast. So a one hour audio tape of a Tom Baker narration plays in about 53 minutes, with Tom Baker sounding a bit more like Pinky & Perky (younger readers may need to Google that reference!) rather than his usual rich, dulcet tones. Yes, you can slow down the audio in the Audacity software provided (I found slowing it down by around 6% corrected the speed enough to enable Tom Baker's voice to be far more recognisable), but you shouldn't really need to be doing this. Instead, I ended up sourcing an old, but proper, portable cassette player from one of the big name top brands, and as soon as I connected it, the difference in sound quality was like night and day! Now THIS is what the cassettes should really sound like!
