The Zutter Bind-It-All allows the user to make bound books and journals of any size. The user only has to understand the functions of how to work the machine, and how to place their papers into it. The instructions that come with the machine list how to create a journal and pages of any size, so your ideas are not limited by what the machine can do. In short, the answer to your question is yes.

Q: Is this suitable for making blank art journals?

Yes, it is perfect for making Art Journals. I've made some of them using the Zutter Bind-It-All. You may need slightly larger owire because the Journal is usually thicker when you are finished with it.

Q: Does this machine use regular combs that other binders use?

This machine punches square holes in a 2:1 configuration, or 2 holes per inch. You cannot not use combs or coil with this punch pattern. You must use 2:1 double ring wire bindings.

Q: Will this work with non-zutter binding wire, or do you have to buy the Zutter Owire packs specifically?

Look for o-wire (AKA “Wire-O”) wire strips in a 2:1 pitch. (3:1 is also available.) Every binding supplier I’ve shopped with carries them.
