If you're wanting to read & aren't a theologian but want some cross references, this is a good Bible. It's replacing my old Bible which fell apart.

I like the clarity of the translation and the plethora of commentaries and other supporting background/details. Some have commented on the “feel” of the leather and I was one of those too. Try rubbing bee’s wax onto the leather and let it absorb until dry. You’ll notice a much improved “feel” and softening of the leather. Thanks to Holman for another good bible product!

Very nice Bible

Purchased as a gift for my 18 year old grandson who just accepted Christ and will be baptized this coming Saturday. He does not have what his mother calls an "adult" Bible, he will now and he can study God's word in his quiet place. He will have it when he goes to college this fall and it will serve him very well. He will have a bazillion questions and this will help him find the answers.

Let me start by saying that I love this translation. The word studies are great also and the interior of the Bible is beautiful. However, the leather (if it’s really leather because it feels a like painted fake leather/cardboard...also smells NOTHING like leather) is the worst and cheapest “leather” I’ve ever seen in a Bible in my 26 years of being a Christian and having owned many. I would not recommend getting this in the leather. I’ve had it a few days and the brown has rubbed off on several spots. I’ve been known to paint designs on Bibles and have never had a problem with adherence or anything. I was not going to paint this Bible, but because it is rubbing off/chipping, I ended up painting it and the paint is not adhering like my other Bibles. Frankly the supposed “genuine leather” cover is also very thin. Not sure what I’ll do to try and preserve it because I really do like the content. Disappointing!!! I will be writing Holman! I couldn’t return it even if I hadn’t painted it because I added index tabs. Better off with the hard cover or “leather touch” for sure.
