How We Live Is How We Die

Inspiring and uplifting
I have most of Pema Chödrön books and some of her CD’s. Over the years, through a lot of hardships, pain, anger, fear, her words helped me make it through another day. With Tonglen meditation I was able to breathe in the negativity and breathe out love & healing. In todays world where there’s so much anger, hate, strife, it allows me to look at the born-with innocence behind the ugly facade and be more loving.I’m old and time waits for no-one; some of my friends are gone and one day it will be my time. It’s up to me how I live the rest of my life and how I die. No, not physical death but how I spend the time I have left and do my part to bring love & kindness to others. Bringing love & peace to others brings love & peace back to me. It’s incredible how it works: if you send out love with a pure heart, not expecting anything back, it will return to you many times over. It’s a wonderful book to read and explore no matter where we are in life.I highly recommend all books, teachings, CD’s of this exceptional counselor.

Highly Recommend Reading
This book is truly outstanding! And very though provoking of paying attention to one's daily life (actions, words).

AN INTERESTING READ
Although not Pema's most useful book for me, the Tibetan Buddhist take on what happens at death is quite interesting, even though, as an American it doesn't come naturally to buy into the theories of the bardos, further lives, etc. I found it to be most helpful when she discusses how to live a good life, be a good person, etc. before we die.

Wisdom for Our Greatest Challenge
I've read much of Pema Chodron as well as lots of other buddhism themed books. This ranks as one of the best, especially for such a profound subject. How to die with peace and dignity is our greatest challenge and gift to our loved ones.

Insightful
Anyone who reads Pema knows she’s incredibly insightful. Not a good introduction to Pema but fabulous for already aware buddhists. Highly recommend for deep thinkers.

Sage advice
Really appreciated this book, tackling a very challenging subject. Whether you subscribe to the idea of rebirth or not, we’re all going to die. Pema Chodron offers many important insights about navigating this life, here and now, with more awareness and emotional maturity, as well as offering ways to make the final moments less fearful. What I always appreciate about her is even after being a Buddhist nun for many years, she always includes herself as still dealing with many of the same struggles as the rest of us. To me, that’s a genuine teacher. Highly recommend.

The Kindle is terrible. Big gaps and unfinished sentences. Very shoddy.Buy the hardcover or wait for the paperback.
