A lot weaker than the 80s albums
Like the first album, this Quiet Riot album is a completely different band than the 80s band, with just singer Kevin Dubrow in common. It DOES have whiz-kid guitarist Randy Roads, but the guitar isn't very up-front in the mix and his playing here is largely standard 70s guitar fare (although he has a few good solos and stuff). Overall, these early albums are more 70s glam-rock than the harder, heavier rock they did in the 80s, and even Dubrow's vocals are lighter. While it's still an OK album, most QR/Rhoads fans would be served better by just picking up the "Randy Rhoads Years" album, considering the high prices and rarity of these two early albums. I might also note, that, while I don't expect my hard rock to be feminist-approved, this album contains one of the most sexist lyrics ever in "Face to Face," which is basically a threat to a woman that if she so much as picks up the phone while the man is out drinking with his friends, he'll beat her to death. Shame about the lyrics, as otherwise its one of the better songs on the album.
