THE WRITING JUST FLOWS
What a fantastic follow-up to the first book of the Horizon Chronicles series, continuing a rousing narrative filled with excitement and danger. “The Helm of Darkness” is totally awesome. Kim’s creativity and writing excel with each new volume.Surprising twists in the story conjure up renewed excitement. Rebellion, treason in Horizon… amazing how so much can transpire in just a few chapters. The exploits are quite compelling and keep you turning the pages in anticipation. In the middle of it all is brave Alexa who is truly committed to the Legion despite bending its rules by giving in to her emotions. She has performed a selfless act, but now feels betrayed, is in self denial and in a quandary. There is so much skillful imagery in the words which Kim uses to paint vivid pictures for us. Like the description of Milo who had “skin which was the color of golden sand and shimmered like crystals in the light”; and of the demon whose “….eyes were ablaze with a furious red glow…”, and that adds to the wonderment of it all.You get so involved in the story and become part of it. When Metraton does not believe Alexa and treats her with contempt, your blood boils and you feel like punching him in the face. When Lance together with John and Jim help Alexa and Milo, you breathe a sigh of relief and back them up one hundred percent. The writing just flows, the story gets more intriguing and before you know it, you arrive at the last page…. then you crave for more. Can’t wait to see what comes next. I am patiently awaiting the third book in the series.

Another wonderful book from the fertile mind of Kim Richardson!
The only problem with any of Kim Richardson's books is they get consumed too quickly. They're like Lays potato chips, you can never stop at just one. If you really want to get the best experience from the "Horizon Chronicles" series and stretch out the enjoyment of this series, read the "Soul Guardians" series first, it will pave the way to understanding the pro's and con's of being a guardian angel. (Plus, it will give the author more time to finish book #3) ;-) Enjoy

So unbelievable
The whole premise of making so called angels who have not the slightest bit of morality is irritating. And your stupid character is so unbelievably immature whinny, temper tantrum, no logic involved here. And stupidly goes with her dumb crush against the risk of life of forever agony and that is suppose to make sense. No. It's makes no sense at all. It is painful to try and read this book

Save your time, just skip this series
I read this book as a part of the series because the synopsis sounded interesting. The characters are forgettable and generic, the plot was predicable and it really made me question the 5 star ratings. The plot was so forgettable that I could barely recall what happened in the entire series. If you like YA fantasy series, there are much better written series with great characters. Save your money, more importantly, save your time and skip this series.

Fantastic continuation!
Book two is even better than book one. We learn more about Alexa and her new partner Milo... lots more! What’s the best part, is that Alexa learns more about herself.

Magnificent!
Gripping and action packed. I'm really enjoying this series. This is one of the best series I've read in awhile. I'm so glad books 1-3 are all available now. As soon as I post this review, I'm buy book 3.
