Love it!
Arrived quickly and packaged well. Item is just as presented in the photos and is actually much nicer than I expected for the price. The little booklet that comes with it describing how to play the game is well written and concise.

Excellent, Good Quality Set
This is a very good quality magnetic set. The surface is a metal printed surface that has the color of blond wood as shown in the picture. The pieces have very easy to recognize don't. The plastic of the board body itself is strong and sturdy. The dimensions of the board and the chess chips are exactly as they are on official bigger boards. And in my opinion this one has the best, easiest to read and to look at color scheme. One very excellent aspect of this set that can rally help any beginner is that the back side of the pieces doesn't have velcrow and is smooth. You can take a sticker of paper apply it on the back side and draw an outline of western chess pieces or whatever piece graphic you want. This is a suggestion only. I am not responsible if then you smear the surface of the board or do it wrong. But for me as someone who wants to teach their friends to play it is very helpful. It takes people awhile to get used to the Chinese characters for all the pieces. But with western chess outlines it will be intuitive.Note: the set doesn't come with instructions. But it would be stupid to expect it to come with thorough instructions on how to play when all of it is available online and on YouTube.

Enjoyable Elephant Chess Experience with Qiangxi Travel Board
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Qiangxi Travel Board, an intriguing version of Elephant Chess, and I must say, it was a truly enjoyable experience. While the game itself is super fun, I encountered a minor challenge due to the fact that only a few people were familiar with how to play. Here's a detailed review of my experience:🐘 Unique Twist on Chess: Elephant Chess, also known as "Chaturanga" or "Qiangxi," is a captivating variation of chess that adds a refreshing twist to the traditional game. The inclusion of elephants as powerful pieces and the unique movement rules make the gameplay engaging and strategic.🧳 Portable and Convenient: The Qiangxi Travel Board is designed with portability in mind. Its compact size and lightweight nature make it easy to carry around, allowing you to enjoy the game on-the-go, whether it's during travels, picnics, or casual meetups.🎮 Engaging Gameplay: Playing Qiangxi was an absolute blast. The combination of familiar chess mechanics with the new elephant movement rules added an extra layer of depth and excitement to each move. The game encourages critical thinking and strategy, making it a mentally stimulating activity.🤔 Learning Curve: Despite its enjoyable nature, I did face a minor hurdle – the lack of familiarity with the game. Unfortunately, only a few people were aware of how to play Elephant Chess, which led to a learning curve for some players. This could be a potential drawback when trying to introduce the game to a wider group.🤝 Educational and Social: Introducing Elephant Chess to friends and family provides a great opportunity for social interaction and learning. Explaining the rules and strategies fosters a collaborative and engaging environment.🌈 Cultural Connection: Beyond the gameplay itself, Qiangxi carries a cultural significance, as it's a traditional game with historical roots. This adds an educational and cultural element to the experience.🎉 Overall Experience: Overall, the Qiangxi Travel Board is a fantastic choice for those seeking a unique and enjoyable chess variation. The engaging gameplay and portability of the board make it a wonderful addition to any game night or social gathering. In summary, the Qiangxi Travel Board offers an exciting twist on the classic game of chess, adding a layer of complexity and enjoyment. While the learning curve due to the game's relative obscurity can pose a challenge, the overall experience is well worth it. Whether you're introducing friends to Elephant Chess or engaging in a mentally stimulating solo match, this travel board offers an intriguing and rewarding experience. I'm awarding it four stars, considering the learning curve, but I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique gaming adventure.

Good travel set but may not be durable
The magnetic board is great for travel or home use. But the chess pieces are thin and light weight for the purpose of able to stay in place on the magnetic board, this means the pieces may not be durable and could be easily broken accidentally.

Great set for a very cheap price. Look for more great products by YMI.
I have for the longest time wanted to play Xiangqi. I am a huge fan of the game as a whole and am beginning to understand the game a little more. The set here is well worth the price and was packaged nicely. Though other reviewers mentioned it had not instructional booklet I found that it had one. I would like to correct one small mistake made in it though that YMI seems to make in its description of the game. If a person perpetually checks or chases their enemies pieces unless they break the cycle the checker not the checked person forfeits the game. This is a huge distinction and is more than likely a small translation error, I assume. Save that the pieces are quite pretty and stored well. The magnet is a little weak overall yet still holds the pieces to the board. For its price it is a complete steal, also look up the Jade set by YMI if you would like a higher quality Xiangqi set that is also magnetic.

Once you learn it - then the fun begins.
I thought Chess was fun to play - however Chinese Chess adds a whole new dimension. Keep in mind, you should review the rules of play and start off slowly when you first begin, but once you get the idea and strategy, there's no limit to the fun you can have. It works great for family fun night or a lazy weekend activity. Being magnetic it travels well and it won't break the bank, we have even taken it on vacation. I purchased this as a gift for one of my kids and it was one of the best choices I've made. I highly recommend it!
