CESS 2.5mm Mono TS Female Jack Socket with Switch PCB Panel Mount (20 Pack)

There is a well-known parts supplier which has a system of pickups with plugs on them so they can be interchanged easily. They were out of stock every time I tried to order them, so I decided to make my own. These things are tiny, they can be glued to the pickup just like the other system, and the plugs that you use with them can be bought on Amazon. (Note that these are two conductor jacks, but they also have 4 conductor jacks and plugs. These come in a 20 pack for some very low price, so stock up and make your own!

This was the jack used to connect to some commercial temperature probes. These jacks allow me to use these probes on diy projects.

These connectors are very poor quality. They fail the first time you install the male plug. The side terminal which contacts the plug tip is pushed out of the plastic connector body. These connectors are a throw-away.Other designs of this type of jack have the terminal anchored through a hole in the side of the plastic housing. Look for that type of design.

It'd be nice if the threaded neck were just a tad longer to securely mount the jack inside of project boxes rather than just a thin metal panel.
