The best series EVER!!
I love a good series but this is by far the best thing I have ever watched. Elisabeth Moss who plays the main character is a brilliant actress. You believe her every step of the way. The story line touches on some very powerful topics and I cannot wait for the new season to be released. Already counting down the days!

Things are going downhill in Gilead
I was very much looking forward to the second season having seen a glimpse of the trailer, which looked spectacular and forbidding. We held off until Prime started to offer this second season with subtitles. Yet I wondered if it could shed the typical 'second season'-stigma given that it would be hard to surpass the first season and given that much of the surprise would be gone with much of the setting explored. But rest assured, the second season holds up quite well. It remains an immersive, grim dystopian story about the misery and continued hopelessness of a breeder. This season adds a few new characters, twists and elaborates storylines through unexpected turns and offers a deeper understanding of June ‘s life before she became a handmaid. The show remains supported by big actor names, each leaving a great performance. But Elizabeth Moss in particular stands out, being very well cast and very capable of carrying this tough role. Yet she is not pleasant to look at in her maid's appearance - constantly fidgeting in the frequent close up facial scenes in particular during the monologues. The Handmaid's Tale remains very bleak, beautifully made, but there is not a shred of fun to lighten up the story. So the series is a little hard to watch with all its grimness. And it certainly will not cheer up your evening. Though we often had to resist from binging the series. We bought the Prime HD version, that is very crisp and that really does justice to the dark material though deep coloured scenes and blurred light. Having said that, the scale of the scenes and the production are okay-ish, but far from massive imposing; it's all about the characters and facial expressions often in confined locations - in that sense it could have been a play as well. Not that it matters much as its very well acted, well shot and the story line is compelling.Blessed be the fruit!!

Great series but not for the faint hearted
I won't lie you have to be prepared for this show as it is not for the faint hearted, it's an emotional journey, and bleak, but very good and different to anything else I have watched before. Would recommend the watch.

Superb handmaid's tale
Superbly acted (special mentions to Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, Alexis Bledel, Amanda Brugel and Elizabeth Moss), gorgeous cinematography, intelligent script. One of the most thrown criticisms at this Season is its unrelenting darkness and violence. What would one expect that depicting a Christian fundamentalist fascist regime would unveil? A sea of roses? One of the reasons why we live in times that seem a prelude to what we see in this series is the foolishness of those demanding to be entertained 24/7 and refuse to see reality for what it is, allowing the forces of hatred to rise to power in silence. This is not a series to entertain you; it is one to challenge you and call you to action before we live in times that are exactly like the ones depicted here. Handmaid's tale is a must watch for the times we live in.
