This is a nice solid base, only issue was that it was a much darker oak color than the image shown but it won't be much of an issue since the object going on top will be white

Kind of hard to mess this one up .. it's a block of walnut that has its top edge rounded over with a router bit (an ogee) and then was stained. It's being used as a trophy base. But, it was what I wanted and is doing its job. I would buy again.

I purchased this to mount an elephant that was purchased from Italy for me in 1995. The wood is beautiful and is what I needed.

As described in headline but otherwise a good product. I will return it and try another.EDIT: I received the ordered replacement and it was much better. No writing this time, though there are a few minor surface dings. Only visible with close inspection. The stain and wood grain was very consistent and nice looking. I'd be hard pressed to make my own at this price.Based on the replacement, I am upgrading my review from 2 stars to 4 stars.
