StormPro 30ACi Deluxe Sump Pump Backup Kit (1-Battery Included)

Unit broke within one month. The battery charger started to run continuously, overcharging the battery and stinking up our basement. Luckily we caught it. The battery was extremely hot and bulging. We were concerned the battery could have exploded and/or leaked battery acid in our basement. We called the installer and they quickly looked at it and determined the unit was defective. Unfortunately we we had to pay $165 to take it out and send to the manufacturer. It took 6 weeks to get a replacement (we had some bad storms during that 6 weeks, but fortunately the power didn't go out, so the battery back-up wasn't needed). Then we had to pay $165 to re-install the new unit. We complained to the manufacturer Ion Products. We have not heard back. Hopefully they will stand by their products and reimburse the labor to remove and reinstall the defective unit. Maybe it was a one time defective product. Because we have a replacement of the same unit, which is working fine so far, but we are definitely concerned it will fail also. Certainly it's a concern that you have a battery back-up sump pump system that you are not sure will work properly when you really need it. Unless the manufacturer stands by their product, I would not recommend any StormPro products or anything from Ion products.
