As plug and play as it gets. So easy a kid could use it.
We upgraded our audio set-up recently and bought a couple of really nice mics, so a twin-input XLR audio interface was needed. After debating various interfaces, I decided to take a risk and go for the M-audio as I've used older models in the past with very little issue and it was the cheapest by far. Whenever you go cheap with audio gear theres always an element of finger-crossing, but I need not have worried.A few reviews have complained that it feels tinny, and I would disagree. It is deceptively light for sure, but somehow also manages to feel well built and robust. Theres a good action on the gain knobs and the switches are very positive as well, overall despite the low weight I'd say its actually very nicely made as long as you don't plan on stamping on it or putting a marshall stack on top of it. The XLR inputs grip tightly and securely, infact every single port on this little box feels precise and well made. The level of clarity delivered by this interface is really quite impressive, its a very clear, open and honest sound with no tonal colouring which is always going to be preferred by anyone serious about audio as it's a proper "blank slate" to begin with. I found no noise was introduced to the signal at all until the gain was set above 9, which is excellent. Setting it up was so simple a child could do it, and after downloading the ASIO drivers from the m-audio website it was ready to go in seconds. There are no bells or whistles and frills (it does have switchable phantom power but this is unnecessary for my setup so I can't say if its any good) but I'd say its barebones nature is actually its strength. It looks professional, it sounds professional, and its cheap. I guarantee you won't hear the difference between this and a focusrite or similar, and the only reason to buy above it is if you need more features or are planning on using it to beat your bass guitarist over the head, in which case may I recommend a brick instead. Good stuff.

Very good budget audio interface
I wanted an inexpensive but decent audio interface for my older guitar multiple FX pedals that don't have a built in audio interface. Works well, easy to set up, good sound quality, good connectivity, and good value.

great for the price but ....
So far this feels like a great purchase, works a treat, not fully tested but have started getting an odd audio drop where it stops working for some reason but it's easily fixable with a usb pulled out and put back in so could be a software thing.

Very good, excellent value
I got the M-audio Duo (was actually classified as used supplied by Amazon). I'm new to the world of audio interfaces, just wanted something so I could record the midi output from my digital piano and then play it back. I'm using an iPad 9th gen with a powered usb hub and also tried it on my phone (xiaomi note pro) and a Lenovo tablet. Works brilliantly on the ipad and phone, no noticeable lag. Not so good on the Lenovo, sound is lagging terribly, but that's got to be an issue with the Lenovo not the interface.Sound is good as I need it to be, no unwanted noises etc. As for being used, it looks brand new to me. So all in all very happy with the purchase and would highly recommend it.

Excellent unit for general [non critical or demanding] home studio use. Reasonable price.
Has all the facilities I need. Well built [though perhaps not likely to survive a hard life on the road] and does the job. Plenty of gain available at the headphone output. Sockets of decent quality, especially if not subject to frequent plugging/unplugging. Very pleased.

Do not buy this audio interface.
Purchased yesterday via Amazon. Arrived today. Opened package. The interface is made out of plastic and weighs next to nothing which normally suggests poor quality electronics, however I was optimistic based on the reviews of this product. I proceed to plug in the interface to test it. Instantly I am presented with the audio signal light clipping red suggesting constant clipping. Along with this I am hearing a horrible hum noise on the headphones and extremely faint clicks like its audio but at 1% volume. Instantly I realised this product was faulty and was unlikely to work. I tried get the interface working via a number of methods without success. I then gave up and took a closer look at the Amazon reviews for this product. It appears that this is a common fault with these interfaces and that they fail regular in this way. It appears it is a poorly made low end product that doe not appear to have any longevity and will likely fail fast. All I wanted this audio interface for was a bridge to direct audio from another interface into this interface and then onto another device. It has failed at doing that miserably. The funniest thing is that I then tried to use a audio interface that was some 20 years old which worked better than this interface, which made me laugh that a 20 year old interface worked but this new one did not work at all. I highly suggest that you do not purchase this interface. You will likely be disappointed and waste your time. The build quality is cheap, its made out of plastic and for me it failed as soon as I turned it on. This is not the interface for you. Depending on your purpose for the interface you should purchase a better interface. For my purpose getting audio into a iphone I am purchasing the Behringer U-CONTROL UCA222 which will likely also work well for DJs looking to get there mix into streaming software or a phone etc. If your going to use a interface then I would suggest purchasing a interface that has AC power as these USB powered interfaces are pretty rubbish and temperamental based on my experiences with them. I have the M Audio Air 192 | 14 which is pretty solid. The Apogee interfaces and UAD are also good if you can afford them. I personally will not be purchasing another USB audio interface again like this and will stick to powered unless its something simple like the Behringer one I am now gonna purchase after I return this. All in all as I have said previous, I highly suggest you do not purchase this interface. Sorry M-Audio, your products are usually great but this as a product is a complete failure and probably should not be up for sale based on its low quality and longevity. Would of gave it 0 if it was available. Now I have to waste my time returning it tomorrow. Smh. :-(
