I have the smaller one and loved it so much I bought this larger one
I am over the moon about this cutter. I have the smaller one and loved it so much I bought this larger one. I bought it to cut dollhouse molding and it works fantastic !!!! No more sawing back and forth with the tiny miter box , one snip and I have my angle cut fast and easy. Love this cutter and you can buy replacement blades for it too. I can say for sure I will be buying more cutters and blades from them in the future. Very happy with both purchases. Price was great .I have not been given anything for free for this product review. I always tell it like it is and I do not sugar coat anything.

I used it for seven years and love it.
I bought this item in 2012, now in 2019 it has become dull. I have used it on all kinds of soft woods and it workedperfectly. I don't know why some people are complaining that the blade isn't sharp.... it shouldn't be....

Saved many hours of trimming. Good tool.
I assembled a complex model wooden boat that required many hundreds of mitered and straight cuts of strip basswood. The build began without the Easy Cutter. After many hours of knife and mini-miter cutting the parts, I saw this on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It has been a wonderful solution. I needed to cut 500 2 inch battens and this tool simplified the process...of course...then the battens had to be glued into place. While that was part was tedious, having them all easily cut (1/32 x 1/32" basswood strips) was a time and brain saver. I also used it to cut thin plywood and thicker strips. This kit, a Mississippi River Steamboat, was loaded with varied sizes basswood strips that needed cut, sand and paint. It is well made and easy to use. One note to be aware of: the cut ends of the basswood strips always were slightly angular, not square. If you need a square end, you may need to lightly sand the ends. I tested to determine if using a mini-miter saw was easier and more efficient. It was not. I found that using 220 sandpaper, adhered to my work table, quickly squared the ends, as needed, with just a couple swipes. This product is a big help.

Great for making miter cuts
Works okay for balsa, will mash the wood though. Probably needs to be sharpened out of the box to work well with balsa. Great for making miter cuts.

in fact its soo dull that cutting wood with this device means you need ...
The angled measuring cuts are the only pro for this product. the blade came unaligned by a couple of milimeters, and trying to fasten the bolt to align the blade with the groove only prevents the spring from springing the handle back into place. 2nd, and the most important part is the blade. if you can call it that, because its far from sharp. I can run my finger clean through and there's not even a single indentation on my skin. in fact its soo dull that cutting wood with this device means you need to apply pressure because there is absolutely no cutting egde, this results in messy cuts and frayed edges. not to mention the blade wedge is off center to the whole blade, meaning whenever you cut into wood you get this awkward slope cut that you need to sand to make it completely flat. never again.

nice and sharp cutter blade! like the one with the adjustable angle fence better!
nice and sharp cutter blade! like the one with the adjustable angle fence better! this is the second cutter tool I have bought from the tool builder. I have built 3 large scale models with the first tool and finishing a 4th (the largest one) with this new tool, I broke the spring on the 1st tool, I switched the bottom part with the angle fence to the new cutter and I am very happy and will buy again.very good tool for a very good price.

Newer doesnt mean better.
Years ago i had bought the first version of this tool, couldn't find it when I ordered it, then found it later. Original the blade is about 1 1/4" long, this version about 2" +/-. The original size is actually a better piece for precision cutting, the longer one the blade will flex, at least does on the 1/8" hexagonal polystyrene stock I was shaping the tips on. The short bladed version is better imo, bot are good tho to add to your hobby tool kits.

Does it's job most of the time
This cutter is useful for mainly balsa wood when you want precise cuts at 45, 60, 75, 90, 105 & 120 degrees. The problem that I had sometimes was that the balsa would be compressed during the second half of some cuts. Also, the cutter would no pass fully through the wood. This results in a broken edge. When it works, this tool is very useful. The only problem with it is in consistency.

Two Stars
The problem with this device is that it gives no clean cut on wood.
