Machine Quilting Made Easy! (The Joy of Quilting)

I've recently taken up quilting, and now own several books, all calling themsleves quilting books. Almost all of those said books have very little information on actual quilting prefering to concentrate on patchwork, cutting etc etc.This book is radically different, the majority of the book is actually dedicated to improving your quilting skills. It works through several activities which aim to improve your skills at each step. It finishes with some suggested project that cover some of the non quilting topics.The is very much a welcome addition to my learning and an absolute must in terms of demonstrating actual QUILTING skills.Lisa

Excellent book. Suitable for the expert and novice alike. Lots of hints and a series of exercises to complete before starting on the whole quilt. Easy to follow and clear pictures. One of the best machine quilting books I have bought.

I have to say that I have another book on machine quilting from the beginning by Angela Walters which is really great. So this one had a lot to live up to! However, this book works through a series of excercises, beginning with working out your stitch length. It includes making a freehand quilting sampler, which enables you to use many different freehand patterns. There are also designs for a feather wreath and so on. There is also quite a lot of technical information about actually making a quilt, selecting the batting and so on. It is a pretty comprehensive book.

Followed clear instructions to go through and practise various quilting patterns on the machine. Very well laid out in this small/quite thin paperback book which is so easy to follow and is quite inspriring too.

Brilliant book. I found it recommended on the justhands-on.tv web site and it more than met expectations. a must for anyone wanting to begin machine quilting.

I like this book a lot. If you work through the exercises in this book you will build up your confidence with free motion quilting in a nice easy way and have lots of fun in the process.

Un libro a tener en cuenta para los amantes del patchwork. Lástima que venga en inglés, pero las fotos son muy gráficas y prácticamente no necesitas un gran conocimiento del inglés.

I have been looking at many books (purchased some)in hopes of finding a simple book with some really good instructions on quilting, and this book did the job! It may seem thin, but if you need a book that covers all the basics with clear instructions you can't go wrong. Besides the easy to understand instructions,there are pictures,colored photographs of finished quilts,projects for practice,and even charts for thread,batting,and needle choices. Some of the books I purchased(for making art quilts)gave great directions for many things,but didn't really cover enough on quilt stitching.I didn't need another inspirational or color theory book. This book got me going on the sewing machine! I would say that if you need a quilt book that explains how to prepare a quilt for stitching and then actually learn the different types of stitches in an easy to understand way,you shouldn't be disappointed.
