Great designs, easy to assemble, amazing value for the price.
This is a wonderful book. The monsters are super cute, and many are very cleverly designed, like the squid with articulating slits in the tentacles that allow them to bend freely. Each monster is printed on sturdy cardstock, the instructions are clear, and the templates are very well-produced: the perforations are generally very easy to separate, the fold lines are slightly scored to enable accurate creasing, and all tabs are clearly labelled with their targets. So even though some of the monsters are more challenging to assemble, the challenge isn't due to frustration with the materials themselves. There's a good range of difficulties, from easy to advanced. My 11-year-old daughter and I are having great fun going through and building all of them; she can mostly do them by herself, though she occasionally needs a little help with the advanced ones, or if some of the perforations aren't quite easy enough to separate. Younger kids with a little patience should have no trouble with the easy ones.A few tips:* For materials, I suggest tacky glue from an art store, toothpicks for spreading, and (if you have one) an X-acto knife.* Most of the perforations are easy to separate by hand. To avoid tearing a piece you're trying to punch out, hold down the edge of the piece near the perforation with one hand or finger, then gently pull outward (not upward) on the surrounding paper with the other hand.* Use the X-acto knife for perforations that don't separate cleanly, or for separating tricky bits like fingers that can tear easily.* For pieces that need to be curved, try gently scraping a fingernail along the underside of the paper, or rolling it around a dowel.* Use a toothpick to spread a thin, even layer of glue on both the tab and the gray area it glues to. Wherever possible, press the tab to the area firmly for a few seconds to let it set - this isn't always possible for every tab due to the construction of some models though. Wipe away excess glue as you go.Overall, this is amazing value for the price - the fifty monsters included will take plenty of time to get through. I hope they produce a sequel!

Awesome for little people
I bought this for my almost four year old thinking the picture would make him laugh or inspire his drawing. I never thought we would have a 40+ monster collection going that battle, raid, and have epic battles with rainbow, playmobil knights, and play dough cans.Truly, I never ever want to see the words "insert tab 478" again. I never thought I would agree to one-monster-a-day as a limit for each fully functional adult in our household. The instructions are clear, the colors vivid, the craft is entertaining, and he has loved, loved, loved this book. Finally, this is really quite accessible and portable. All you need is a glue stick (we used elmer school glue stick) and some time. No printing, etc, and the paper is ridged for easy folds. Very well designed. We are a pretty gentle family (no media, no scary stuff) and although some of the monsters are kind of scary, it hasn't scared him.I don't think I've ever spent so little for some much ongoing entertainment value.

A creative and fun book.
The media could not be loaded. If you like this style of book then you might also enjoy a fairytale about a little girl and a haunted house: The Stumps of Flattop HillPapertoy Monsters is a collection of 50 cool paper monsters you can put together using scissors and glue. Each monster is rated by difficulty level, but I must warn you that even the "Easy" monsters could be challenging for the little kids. The monsters are perforated and the instructions are straight forward.Simply cut along the guides, fold along the lines and glue the labeled tabs to their matching areas. Since you are working with a sheet of paper, the complex monsters are smaller than you would typically imagine and folding and gluing them together could get messy. Patience is required.A bonus section in the back with blank templates gives you the creative freedom to draw and make your own monsters. There's enough variety of creatures here and a lot of thought was put in their design. A fun hobby that should last you a while.

mega cool

Wonderful fun, and no scissors needed! Excellent value
We’ve had a great time with these. There are 3 levels of difficulty which was great for the 7yr old, 12yr old and adult who spent hours on them on rainy days in the summer. The 7yr old made the simpler ones, and needed an occasional hand. The back stories for each monster were fun......we read them out to each other when each monster was finished. There are a lot of monsters.......we still have many more to make...... so the book is excellent valueThe monsters are designed by lots of people meaning the different models are different, and fresh. Sometimes having 2 people helps meaning co-operative monster making, as well as working on your own works well. There are between about 20 and 70 tags on each model, time taken to make each one depend on the glue used. We used a glue stick......the quickest option. When finished the models can be played with - carefully - the construction is strong, but the card is light weight.Nothing negative to say.

Terrific!
The models are seriously terrific! My original intention was to do this as an activity with my parrot, and let her shred the models as I made them, but they are just sooo goood, I'm getting a second copy that can be kept safe from beaky beaks...The templates are easy to tear out of the paper - no scissors needed. The non-glossy paper is not too thick and not too thin, and uses benign-appearing, non-smelly inks. The designs are very creative and varied. They are easy enough to follow, but are not boring even for an adult to make. The write-ups on each monster were really interesting to read, and often tell a small story, as opposed to some 2-sentence cliche monster descriptions from a comparable book...Also, 50 models in a $22 book is a really good deal, in my opinion. I've only made about 10 models so far, but they haven't even repeated the basic shape.Highly recommend!

Wonderful engagement!
My son LOVED this book! He was 7 when he received it and is now nearly 8years. He loved it so much he wished he could do some of them again (now that he’s a bit older) and put it on his birthday list so I have bought him a second copy. It provided hours of engagement and was marvelous for play dates! 😊
