Does the job well!
Does the job! With a little time and patience, a handy person can rebed a water softener themselves. After rinsing and before installing, the clean gravel made the start-up backwash process a lot cleaner. My softener now works as good as new again!

Worked perfectly for me
I used this product when I was replacing the media in my iron filter. I rinsed the gravel in a bucket of water a few times to remove the fine particles.

GOOD VALUE
THIS IS HARD TO FIND LOCALLY, SO THIS IS A VERY HANDY SOURCE. THE PRICE IS GOOD, AND IT WAS WELL PACKAGED. I AM PLEASED.

Works as expected.
Works as expected. Is took two weeks to get, but was advised when purchasing off the delivery time so it actually arrived on time.

Works but a bit fine and requires several rinses
I used it for part of water softener resin replacement and seems to work fine last several weeks. No noticeable water pressure drop at facets. It required 5 rinses because it had really small gravels that may not be filtered by the bottom diffuser.

Exactly what I needed
I needed bedding/gravel for Culligan 9” water softener. This took awhile to arrive but is perfect substrate. You probably don’t need all 10lb but I added it anyway.

The 'garnet' never gets clean, even after MANY washes
After washing the garnet in clean water, it had a ton of brown dust in the water.I washed it again and again (around 15 times total, with soap and without, even boiled it), and it still turned the water a murky brown color.Clearly the brown particles are some kind of softer clay-like material, that wears down by the harder particles during washing. So this isn't pure garnet, which really is visible in the product photos, it's a mix of all sorts of different types of materials, some softer and some harder. So I wouldn't use it in a water filter or anything of that sort.

It is what it is
You definitely need to rinse this a few times before using. Otherwise, a good product.
