Give GIV a little and get ALOT - and give some too!
As someone that is always trying to save just a bit more money every month, I have shopped and shopped for ways to cut my cell bill down to the minimum. I talk and text quite a bit and I needed a company that was pretty flexible with data limits, but didn't just have a one-size fits all deal like some of the other alternative carriers out there. What caught my eye about GIV Mobile at first was the fact that they had a $20 plan that included all the voice and text I could use. Then they offered steps up from there - $25 included unlimited slow data (great for picture message users and light browsing) - $30 to get 1GB of LTE speeds, $40 to move to 2GB of LTE speeds or a flat $60 to have unlimited everything with 10GB of LTE.I didn't need that much data, so I settled on the $30 plan. It included unlimited talk and text, 1GB of LTE data and unlimited 2G data after that. Loosely translated, I can check emails, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter till my heart's content and not have to worry about running out of high speed data. If you are a streamer, look to go up to the $60 plan, but even that is a steal since there are no added taxes or fees added on to your bill! It's a flat rate deal!The service has been fantastic in the Seattle area. I see LTE speeds in the 20-40Mbps down range and about 10Mbps up. Living off the beaten path a bit, I was a bit worried about in building coverage, but T-Mobile (the network that GIV runs off of) has really stepped up their game lately and filled in quite a few of the holes that their network once had in my area. Check the coverage map in your area to see what you would be dealing with, but my experience has been nothing but great. A little known bonus on GIV Mobile's service is that if you do live in a sketchy area, you can request a Wi-Fi Calling compatible SIM for use with your T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling capable phone and have that activated to your account for no additional charge!Probably the strangest part of the GIV Mobile setup was having to choose a charity to donate 8% of my bill to. There were so many great programs to consider that it was very difficult to choose. I guess the coolest part about the program was you get to choose! My little $30 plan will end up donating almost $30 a year to the American Cancer Society - and my bill dropped $15 on top of that!I guess I would sum up my GIV Mobile experience this way - I ordered my starter kit, which arrived faster than promised. I then had a choice of 3 SIM sizes on my included card that would work with just about anything I could throw at it - including newer Verizon Wireless LTE devices (they ship unlocked so you just have to edit your APN Settings) and after about 3 seconds online, I had almost $200 a year back in my pocket over the plan that had saved me almost $400 in the past few months. I didn't change networks, phones or anything else, just popped in the SIM, activated it online and set up phone's data and MMS settings up. That's it!I have to give the service level a 5 star rating, the customer service aspect 5 stars, ease of setup 5 stars and this purchase 5 stars. I'll also give a bonus 6th star to GIV for their charitable contributions! Thanks for being AWESOME!
