Used this as an inexpensive method to protect my hardwood floor against the rough bottom surface of an area rug. Has worked great. No slipping

We tore up some old carpet from our basement and decided to replace it with laminate. Given that we're in a pretty cold climate, we thought we'd add some in-floor heat while we were at it. We settled on some heated pads from Thermosoft. They sell their own filler pads, but it seemed a little expensive. That's when I found this Insulayment. It seems to be the exact same stuff, and it was a perfect match for the thickness of the heated pads we purchased. It was a breeze to cut and install, and saved us a little money in the process.

I am writing this review to help someone else avoid being in the same circumstance that I am. The person who redid the floors in our house used this kind of padding underneath, which is apparently a great mood growing medium. Our freezer leaked, the floor got soaked, and started growing mold. We had to tear up the floor and treat the subfloor and we will have to replace the flooring as were able. Mold can cause chronic health issues, and the way we've changed how we build things using mold growing mediums as an 'energy efficient" barrier is part of the reason for a lot of chronic illnesses. Now we have this unsealed on the edges wood floor with mold food underneath all throughout our house. We will probably have to sand the whole thing down and refinish it at some point, maybe with beeswax. Don't use this stuff. Use something that doesn't feed mold!

Great product for underneath floating flooring of any kind I put mine underneath my half inch hickory engineered flooring.

Considering price, ease of installation, and sound deadening, this is my favorite underlayment.This underlayment does a good job of isolating the tile from the subfloor.I've used this product for several remodeling jobs where I installed large-format tile over wood, gypcrete, and concrete subfloors. I have *never* had a cracked tile when I used this underlayment. That honestly surprises me, because I've encountered some pretty ratty subfloors that had caused significant cracking in the old tiles.This underlayment also has the best sound-isolation of any that I've tried. I often install tile on second-floor condominiums with wood framing, and this underlayment gives better sound isolation to the downstairs unit than competing sound-isolating underlayments made of foam or plastic. (Advice for people shopping for sound-isolating underlayment: don't believe manufacturer's claims; they're generally just marketing babble.)

The quality of this product has gone down but the price is still the same as before. The tear resistance of the new product is poor compared to the same brand product that I bought from a retail store at the same price in 2018. That makes it difficult to install.

This worked perfect and was exactly what I needed for my RV floor repair job.

It's a must have if you have a lot of kids or high-heel traffic on hardwoods. Also muffles sound from basement.
