Great antenna.
Installed this on my roof rack, attached to a Uniden Beartracker scanner. So far it has performed wonderfully. Every channel that we are in range of gets picked up clearly. Would recommend for mobile scanners!

Very nice antenna with copper coated steel whip
Now this is how whip antennas should be: rather large diameter rod (yea, this helps with bandwidth) and copper coated steel whip. None of that stainless steel whip, which by the way stainless is lossy certainly compared to the copper coating on this whip. The whip is really tough as I found out when I tried to trim it's length a bit. I did find that the black paint on the base wore off after just a few on/off from the NMO vehicle mount, so if you want really good cosmetics beware of that weakness. Now on to the performance: I don't have good data on that yet. But...I will say that I'm concerned as I think the bottom section below the coil is too long to at 70cm. I fear this will give a higher radiation angle which we don't want usually. At 2m the coil serves to shorten the whip which is then a simple 1/4 wave at 2m. Having the coil slightly higher than other antennas have it is an advantage because that improves bandwidth. One comment about the coil: it is an open air coil of decent diameter both of which are good for lower loss and higher bandwidth.Overall I really like this antenna and for the price it's excellent.

All you’ll ever need
Great well built antenna. Trim to any length you need. Can’t go wrong especially for the price.

Description is incorrect!
The description on this product is wrong, and isn't just misleading, it doesn't even match the packaging (shown in the attached image). The model number is right, and it is an NMO mount, but everything else in the title and description are wrong. The antenna isn't wide-band -- it's meant for a single band. And it's meant to be used between 132 and 512 MHz, not 136-940 MHz. You're supposed to cut it to length based on the frequency band you'll be using. It includes a chart so you can know where to cut it (shown in the attached image).I have no idea where the "136-940 MHz" in the item title came from. It's just wrong.

Simple 1/4 wave antenna
Needed something low profile for 1.25m ham band. Just tuned it to 222Mhz and made a contact to a repeater 26 miles out. Had to cut nearly 6 inches off. Came tuned in the 125Mhz range. It says wide band which can confuse some. This is a mono band antenna tunable for a wide range of frequencies.

Worked perfectly for what I needed it for. Installed ...
Worked perfectly for what I needed it for. Installed on a Polaris Rzr to keep in touch with my other riding crew, will pickup about 2miles away depending on terrain of course.

Not "wide band"
The product description is a bit misleading. It will handle the frequencies described, but not all at once. You have to trim the antenna for each frequency, so unless there's just one "bank" of frequencies you want to access, I'd not recommend this product.

Misleading, and does not receive 513+mhz
Let me start with this, this antenna is NOT really wide band; it only receives 132-174mhz, or 406-512mhz, depending on how you cut the whip to tune it. Out of the box, it's at 20", which is the length for 132-144mhz only. Not only is the description misleading (I thought I was buying an antenna that was already tuned to grab all frequencies from 132-900mhz, for my scanner), but it's flat out false for claiming any reception above 512mhz. Due to that, my review starts off at 0 stars. The whip, whip adaptor and outer face of the NMO connector area are all black, and look to be in good shape. Plus 1 star for that. The brass inner area of the NMO connector, where you screw it to the mount/cable, is a bit corroded. Additionally, the threaded area is a bit scratched. This portion of the assembly looks like it was recycled as is and just put together and shipped out of a Chinese factory. In fact, while Tram-Browning has a base in Oklahoma and the packaging has a US flag proudly displayed on the front, the reverse side shows it is actually made in China. No worries there, I've had great Chinese products before, but because of the brass condition and legitimate concern for connectivity issues in the near future, you lose that other star, back to 0 stars. All that being said, it is an NMO antenna, and will receive on the frequencies you've tuned the whip to, with great range and clarity. You'll need to retune it when you get it, unless you're running on that low of frequency, but it does the job. Plus 2 stars for that, and that's my methodology and reasoning for the 2 stars overall.
