Great Beginner Book
This was one of the books I read when I first started thinking about getting goldfish. It has a lot of great information, including plant selection, information on diseases/illnesses, the basics of tank setup and necessary supplies. The only downside is that it is missing information on tank/nitrogen cycling, which is important for any tank, but especially with goldfish since they are such messy fish.

Not complete, but good.
Good book, but was missing a lot of information I had to find by researching online. Was hoping for a more thorough book.

Nitrogen cycle?
This book covers all the essentials of caring for goldfish and I give it 4 or 5 stars for beginners who may want to learn more about aquarium selection, setup, and the many types of goldfish available. The reason why I give it 3 stars is because there is a very limited amount of information about the nitrogen cycle. Not understanding the nitrogen cycle is the number one reason that 2/3 of beginners quit the aquarium hobby within the first year.It is common for enthusiasts to go out and get a 10 gallon tank, stuff a bunch of fish into it, and then wonder why they all die within 2 weeks. Fish produce waste and without a substantial beneficial bacterial colony to convert the ammonia into nitrite, and then nitrate, the fish will become poisoned to death from swimming around in their own filth. This book should have been written with more detail about how to establish the nitrogen cycle and the do's and don'ts of maintaining a healthy bacterial colony. Also, somewhere in this book there is a section on overcrowding and stocking levels that are appropriate for goldfish. Regardless of what the book says, you CANNOT put 3 goldfish in a 5 gallon tank! Goldfish can grow to be 10 - 12 inches in length and just one of the critters needs a minimum of a 30 gallon tank - and definitely NOT a fish bowl - to thrive and live a healthy life.
