Feature rich
I am a low intermediate player returning to the game and found this highly reviewed cue. After 5 mos of heavy play, this appears to be a decently made cue. Comes with a high quality soft tip. I may go to medium when I replace. The seller so far has been great. A good stepping stone stick. I will spend $$$ on a carbon fiber if I step up again.

Best value cue
I've owned this cue stick for 3 years. I just love it. Compared to those expensive Mcdermott or Predator cues, this player cue has the best cost-value ratio. Especially it comes with a Kamui Black soft tip so that you don't have to bother changing the tip for years. And the low deflection shaft can satisfied most of the spin shot. Highly recommended.

Good Value !
apprehensive to give this 4 stars; because I gave my OB shaft a 4 star review as well. but this is a total score and this is why.1. value = 5 stars;you cannot purchase a brand new complete low deflection stick on the market for less then a players; you must spend around $500.2. performance = 3.5While it is Low Deflection; it does hit pretty well; and it is not extreme like a graphite que or feel shakey;Because it is in fact low deflection it took me nearly 2 months to start hitting well again; and my cuts/banks are still Way Off.The tip is great; not too hard that I miscue; but it is layered and showing that.I have not played with the 'skinny' version of this shaft but I do see the need to reduce the tip size; 12.75 is too fat for a LD stick IMO;I would like to tune this down to about 12.25 for about 8" of the shaft; then probably go the full 12" after that if it holds it accuracy.the joint is just fine; in fact I think steel is better quality then the plastic joints given on more expensive sticks;the butt end is good too; low profile; and has not fallen off like it has on my many other cues.I've played with everything; here is my preference in order of shafts I have played with:used predatorOB Classic, (not the OB skinny or the OB conical)laminated custom shafts or the iCore McDermott series (ONLY if Fitted not just purchased afterwards then screwed on to random cue)Lucassi HybridPlayers HXTMucci power pistonCueTecViking / Action cues / and bar sticks do not qualify as they are not pro tapered or low def.3. build quality; = 3.7shaft was not polished; and feeling rough; makes me wonder if it is really laminated throughout; the rest of the stick is well designed and working great; I wish players would go to a quick lock joint but whatever.

Best thing that's happened to my game!
First of all, the reason this lost a star is not because of the cue but because of the shipper's poor packaging! There was very little packing material in the package to protect the cur from knocking around inside the box during transit. If you're not going to include a free case with a cue at this price, you need to package it so the cue is protected! As a result, there's one or two very small dents in the cue shaft. They're hardly noticeable and don't affect play, but a new cue shouldn't have any dents in the shaft. Now for the cue itself: first of all, the cue is not a Player's brand as advertised but a PureX cue, which is made by Player's. I was a little confused upon seeing this and was at first slightly suspect that I had been shafted (pardon the pun). However, it's an amazing cue! I've noticed an instant improvement in my cue ball control using this cue. The tip seems to be very good quality and allows you to get consistent and precise english on the cue ball. Without a doubt, it's opened a whole new category of shots for me because of this added control. Not only are curve/masse shots MUCH easier, but achieving good shape on the next object ball has become much easier. The shaft has no chemical finish (typical for good cues) on it and is extremely smooth. The cue glides like it's not even touching your hand! The linen grip is both even and very well pressed. I don't expect to have to have it re-wrapped for a very long time. The bottom line: If you're looking to improve your game, this is an excellent cue and will give you a significant advantage over using the beat-up and bowed house cues at most bars or pool halls. Buy it!

Top rated for cues in the $200 and under range.
Purchased as a gift for my son who is ordering a new pool table. A friend also tried it and on my recommendation purchased another. Both preferred the 20.5 oz. weight. These play well and are certainly a big step up over the typical house cue. Not the sweet feel of my venerable Meucci Original 84-4 cue, but a good value for the price.

Great beginner cue
Highly recommend this cue to novice and intermediate players. The low deflection shaft performs as well as many high end shafts.Construction and finish are excellent.Only downside is the lack of choice for wraps or a no wrap option. … but the Irish linen is excellent quality.
