A History of US: Ten-Volume Set (A ^AHistory of US)

I purchased this series of 10 US History Books by Joy Hakim, as American History curriculum for my middle school daughter whom I homeschool.I originally came across the Author and her works in the Sonlight Learning Homeschool Curriculm website. A website that I've used in the past and respect thier choices for teaching curriculums.I did some research and after reading how the author, Judy Hakim had been a teacher for some time with children of her own and was a history enthusiast. I surmised that being a teacher and a mother, she knew how to talk to children and with her being a history enthusiast, I had little doubt that this would be a great addition to our homeschool program.I have never been happier, my daughter and I are so far ahead of schedule in history, her writings keep your attention, her explanations of events are easy to comprehend and thorough. My daughter enjoys history but wasn't exactly excited about American History it us now thanks to this series, these books are her go to books during her free time.This set is more expensive on Sonlights site but after searching I found it less expensive on Amazon.I highly recommend this set, not only for children but I myself enjoy relearning our American History in a format that not only easy to comprehend but is written in a upbeat captivating format.

I wanted a good concise history of the USA This is perfect

These are brilliant! The series is comprehensive, cohesive, witty, disturbing, inspiring, realistic. Although a history-enthusiast herself, this author is able to write a history for non-historians or people who "dislike history", but who would like to know, understand and remember, at least a little, more of the whats, whos, whens, whys and hows of American history. Her enthusiasm is contagious. I have discovered history with these books and am inspired to follow up with more reading of what is recommended and quoted. I can HIGHLY recommend this series to children and adults alike; Americans and non-Americans. A treasure chest of books.

I am homeschooling my 12 and 13 yrs old daughters. We are using these books for history. I am so happy with them! They are really kid friendly, making learning fun and interesting for my girls and myself. She has a wonderful style of writing that brings you right there in the middle of what took place. I hightly reccommend them for children in the 10-15yr area.

Having met the author in my fifth grade classroom when she introduced this series some years ago, with my students some of the first to sample the books, it was time to purchase this set for my grandson, 11 years old, who is quite captivated by history. I plan to revisit the series with him. Quality analysis and presentation.

This set was a birthday gift for my grandson. The adults at the party also were very impressed with these books.

Can't say enough good things about this set! Since when has learning History been this much fun? I never have to coax my daugther to pick them up- in fact, she usually reads on much further than assigned!

It makes History like reading a novel! Excellent for the class room as a stand alone curriculum or to supplement standard curriculum.
