Loved it
The art and prose together work perfectly. Lots of politics and ethics debates. All of it works for me. Thumbs way up!

A great supplement to the book.
I’m a fan of the anthology V-WARS, also by Jonathan Maberry and contributed to by various other authors writing within this greater vampire world, and I knew this graphic novel was coming out so when I saw it was available on NetGalley I nabbed it. While I don’t really like reviewing comics/graphic novels because they’re not really my thing I’m not about to pass up a read like this so take this review for what you will.CRIMSON QUEEN starts after the whole zero hour moment happens in the book so while I think there’s enough in the comic to give the reader enough backstory to know what’s going on I would recommend reading the book first. It’s far more in-depth and I think it just enriches the comic even more. It’s been a while since I’ve read the book but I settled back into the few characters that bridge the gap eventually when they finally emerged from my memory. Because the book travels down so many alleys within this world it’s kind of nice to focus on one in the graphic novel and I can really delve deeper into the storyline when I’m not being bandied back and forth. That’s not to say I liked the book less because of the alternating viewpoints; the graphic novel just gives me more focus.I enjoyed the art by Alan Robinson. It was gruesome and dirty without being a mess of drawings as a means of portraying that dirtiness. Every character was crisp and the attention to detail was fantastic. It’s a world similar to what I’d imagined from reading the book so I was able to jump right in without having to adjust to someone else’s view of the same scenario. That helped a lot.The plot is an interesting one and one that’s pulled right from the book: people adjusting to the Ice Virus, on both sides of the line. There are extremists, people who just want to continue living, whether they’re human or evolved and then there’s the Queen. Not sure what her deal is yet because she’s not on anyone’s side although her heart, obviously, belongs to the vampires. I’m interested in reading more just because of her. What’s her deal? What’s her prerogative? And who’s really in her pocket? I liked the questions she brought up and I like the questions the plot as a whole are throwing at me. It really is a good story and I like how different it is from anything I’ve read. It at once humanized vampires and keeps then horrifying. These are beasts but they’re also people. Maybe? Maybe they’ll tear your throat out and maybe they just want to mow their lawn. It’s a roll of the dice at the moment.Really, whether written as a book, graphic novel, whatever, I’ll keep reading V-WARS. It’s just too interesting and compelling not to.4

Quick comic.
I didn't expect this to be a comic book, and it was shorter than expected. Overall, an enjoyable book that has a deeper meaning as always.

Not A Book!!!
I ordered this because I am, or rather, WAS a fan of Jonathan Mayberry. This is a comic book. I thought it was a book series. I am mad and canceled my other Jonathan Mayberry purchase. Never again.
