Fantastic Series - both 1 & 2 are a must watch
Can highly recommend both the first and second series of Queer As Folk. I've just bought both series on DVD as I first bought it, many years ago after watching it on tv, on video tape!! So as it's been many years seen I watched the series due to no video player I decided it was time to replace by videos and have a Queer As Folk series fest in the next few weekends. The music in both series it brilliant and I'm totally amazed it's not had a rerun on tv. Great actors, some of which have gone on to do greater things. If cheeky banter, great music, brilliant storyline and a bit of steamy sex is your thing then you won't be disappointed.

negative portrayal of gay men
I bought this, remembering that I enjoyed in on TV in the 1990s. However, in 2021, I think it is completely out of date and I would not recommend it at all. The acting is wooden, but worse than that ....... I think it shows a very dated, negative portrayal of gay men. The characters are so flippant and careless in their relationships. It's like it was made in a time where Channel 4 just wanted to "shock". It doesn't show the truth about love and relationships. Would not recommend this DVD for anyone.

Nowt as.....
Fantastic series of gay life in Manchester. The hedonistic Stuart rules Canal St, throwing away lovers and always after the next thrill. His friend Vince unable find true love parties with him but never gets the choice cuts! Enter the young boys and Nathan, eager for experiences, dazzled by the pulse, money and outgoing men around them. Families, loyalties, drugs, love, jealousy, bigotry, tragedy and laughs fill this series. Get it, hide it from granny....or not!

Staying in my favorite section to keep on rewatching
Love Love this series. Raunchy , rude, fun and action packed. Great writing, great acting and visually new and fresh. we need more of these kind of awakenings.

Queer, but oh so witty, pretty and gay, Russel T. Davies sprinkled this series with lots of stardust.
A great box set of the first two series made. Sadly no more were commisioned and Russel T Davies became even busier rescuing and relaunching Doctor Who. Nevertheless this is a splendid dawn of the gay culture set in Manchester with plenty of action, spills and thrills. Worthy of a repeat on TV right now!

Wonderful experience
Queer as folk is one of those ground breaking series that once seen, you'll want to watch over and over again [unless that is, you are easily offended by homosexual sex acts]. Funny and sad. Brilliant performances by the whole cast and our introduction to Antony Cotton [Sean Tully in Coronation Street] and Charlie Hunnam [Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim].

Entertaining comedy drama
If you haven't already seen this, do yourself a favour and get it! I love it. It's fast, funny, intelligent and compelling. Most of the characters are gay, and they're not sitting around pondering their sexuality, they're living life to the full.I'm not going to give away the plot, but there's a reason this series got so much publicity when it was on TV. It's simply great TV. And this is a great DVD.
