love this nib holder!
was on the fence about this nib holder when i bought it but it rests well in the hand. the size of the barrel and the ergonomics of it keeps your hand from cramping. in addition to the ergonomics, there is a piece of rubber to keep the holder from slipping in the hand.as you can tell i really like this nib holder!

Pen holder above the rest.
Best ink pen holder as it is very easy to hold and fits nicely to the hand as it’s gripped. Holds the selected size of inking points securely. Definitely a sturdy pen holder.

Fantastic Nib Holder! Much more practical than the wooden one!
Great nib holder! Not only does it fit comic nibs but it also fits my calligraphy nibs. I like this one more than the wooden one as the wooden one is more prone to splitting and breaking.

Not bad for a plastic holder.
When it comes to dip quill pens and pen holders, I can say with confidence; I've used them all. I have a few aluminum nib holders that put this one and any other to shame, but this was meant as a low-cost alternative that students might be able to use. Over all the heft, length and range of nibs it can take is good. The down shot is that there is a bit of give in the nib even if seated perfectly and deeply in the holder. A well made holder provides no wiggle room. It is not much, but enough to make precise marks more challenging than they should be. Will work for some, I like the cap protecting the nib, but there could be improvements in the design of this holder despite it's versatility. It is better with larger nibs (not hawk quill style), but the smaller, and more precise narrow quill nibs are better married to a wooden holder built just for that purpose.

Light and comfortable
Slightly larger diameter compared to the few others I've used. Makes for a more comfortable, relaxed grip.

Plastic, Not Wood + No Cap
So I didn't realize that this pen was straight up a plastic version of the light blue grip wood T40 pen--for some reason I thought it was painted wood. Also, I thought it came with a cap, and from some of the reviews it sounds like it should have? I was looking for a second capped T40 pen that would be a different color from my current one so I could basically color-code my broad nibs and was hoping to avoid just picking up another copy of the light blue and a T36 and giving the cap to the T36 for travel since that leaves me with a second identical pen at home (which defeats the purpose of color-coding), but maybe that's the only solution...

Feels heavier, same weight, different balance
Just got it today and did a warmup page with a Tama nib. Usually, I have that nib in a T36, and my G is in a wood T40. This solid plastic T40 felt heavier even though my scale said they weighed the same within a gram so I checked the balance and there is a ¼ inch difference. My T40PW is slightly nib heavy compared to the wood T40. This could make it less expressive when paired with a G nib. Conversely, if you're doing a lot of backgrounds and you need consistent line weights or you're using it with a straight edge this would be to your benefit. Adding a Tama makes it balance even further nib forward, but a Tama is a long nib which puts the point of work farther from your fingers. I think that may effectively nullify the change in balance. My line work on the practice page was a little different with the T40PW compared to the T36 I had been using; it was cleaner and I was thinking about the nib less. At least for me that's a win. I'll use the now vacant T36 with a Maru. BTW, it did come with a cap.

Great nib holder
This nib holder is great for anyone looking to get into dip pens, or a general purpose pen that can easily justify the space it occupies
